WHAT IS HURISO?

HURISO or officially known as Human Rights Society is a socio-civic organization located at


Mindanao State University- General Santos City, which promotes and protects the inherent,
legal rights and welfare of all HURISO members.

The HURISO uphold the basic human rights and all rights granted to each person by the
Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines and other pertinent laws.

The organization provides programs, activities, and services that enhances the students’ overall
well-being and upholds the values of justice and humanity.
WHAT ARE THE GOALS AND DUTIES OF THE ORGANIZATION?
Objectives:
1. To promote physical health, social and mental development of all the members through
sports fest, quiz bowls, and educational tours or any related programs.
2. To equip all the members with accurate knowledge regarding human inherent and legal
rights, social justice, nationalism and patriotism, peace and order, professionalism and
morality.
3. To serve as an avenue of knowledge in molding and transforming the members,
students, and the youth to become responsible and productive nationalists and patriots
equipped with righteous principles; to become just and morally upright citizens of our
country.
4. To respond accordingly, in any form of legal means, on all issues affecting social justice,
human inherent and legal rights, peace and order, the security of the Human Rights
Society.
1. To conduct social, civic or community aid and services in remote or isolated areas in
SOCCSKSARGEN.
2. To conduct symposiums and seminars within and beyond the domains of Mindanao
State University-Fatima, General Santos City.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. The organization shall be at all times faithful and accountable with its duties and uphold
virtuous and proper conduct.
2. The HURISO members shall refrain from any act that will put its reputation in danger and
grave humiliation.
3. The organization shall uphold the paramount law of the land and the University Code of
Ethics in all its official functions.
4. The HURISO shall be a non-partisan, politically neutral organization that shall strive for
realizing the indispensable role of Civil Society and the promotion of Human Rights.

WHO ARE THE MEMBERS OF HURISO?


All presently enrolled Political Science students of Mindanao State University – General Santos
City are automatically members of Human Rights Society (HURISO).
RIGHTS AND DUTIES OF MEMBERS
(Article IV of the HURISO Constitution and By-Laws)
A. RIGHTS
Section1. Every member has the right to:

a. Enjoy and exercise the freedom of speech and expression;


b. Be informed of any activity and projects of the organization;
c. Have his grievances or complaints heard and speedily addressed;
d. Access to all records and documents pertaining to the operations and
proceedings of the organization;
e. Issue, circulate, and publish manifesto on matters affecting the members;
f. Organize peaceful assembly for purpose not contrary to law, rules and regulations
of the university;
g. Run in any position in the organization subject to the provisions in Article VII;
h. Question the qualifications of those running in office; and
i. Due process when accused of any violation of this Constitution and By-laws.

B. DUTIES
Section 2. Every member is bound to:
a. Pay membership fee and fines, which shall be determined by the legislative body;
b. Attend all meetings called by this organization;
c. Actively participate in all activities undertaken and sponsored by the organization;
d. Preserve and protect the good image of the organization;
e. Respect the rights of other members; and
f. Fulfill any sanctions of not participating in activities and meetings.

WHAT ARE THE DUTIES OF THE YEAR REPRESENTATIVES?


The Representatives shall:

Act as the legislators of the organization;

a. Draft and propose resolutions;

b. Bring the selected ideals and aspirations for the welfare of his respective year level; and

c. Perform such duties as the officers may delegate him.


SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS OF HURISO
1. Home for the Aged Annual Visitation

2. UDHR Week 2020- week long celebration of the International Human Rights Day
held annually every 10th of December
Programs along with Partner Organizations
1. Kefangagí: Basic Reading and Writing Literacy Program for IP Community initiated
by PYP and AY-Palimbang with the support of Human Rights Society of MSU GenSan,
SK Badiangon, and PYDC.
2. Hinyap: Mental Health Awareness Webinar by Global Institute for Youth
Development

3. Training and Development Webinar with the speakers- Mr. Loreto Condesa from
CHR Region XII and Mr. Gerard Oliver Wang Jr., an alumnus of the Department
4. Monetary Donations to those affected by the Typhoon in partnership with Bagwis-
MSU GSC
