Viewpoint
The Point of View used in this study is from internal control management of Apple Inc.,a
global leader in creating cutting-edge electronic products and technologies.
This case study is created to help readers comprehend the value of corporate social responsibility throu
ghout the global supply chain.
Although Apple Inc. (hereafter referred to as Apple) was founded in 1977, the conflict only really sta
rted in 2010 after Apple's supplier sustainability strategy came under criticism in the media for its po
or management and disregard for the rights of its employees.
In order to maintain the openness of the company's supply chain, Apple also addressed the issue in
2011–2012 by enhancing its health and safety procedures and by joining the Fair Labor Association (
FLA) to ensure the company’s supply chain transparency.
III.Problem Statement
The main complication on the internal management of Apple Inc. is the limited trnasparency of
Apple’s supplier sustainability policy wherein it has been being criticized by media often.A well-
known conflict involving Apple’s supplier is the suicides at Foxconn—It is the largest contracted
electronics manufacturer in the world,Foxconn is also the manufacturer of iPhones and iPads—In
May 2010 several media sources reported several cases at Foxconn, From 2009 to 2010 a total of 13
workers have commited suicide—During an undercover investigation it was discovered that the
reason for the multiple suicides was related to internal management,”the facilities at Foxconn are
fine, but the management is poor”—The weekly working hours of workers were up to 70 hours, ten
hours above the maximum hours set by Apple’s Supplier Code.
Concerning workers' health and safety conditions at the suppliers, Apple's CSR policy post-conflicts
Apple makes sure that suppliers comply with the Supplier Code by conducting audits. The audits
cover working and living conditions, health and safety but also environmental practices at the
facilities

Due to the Communication Breakdown of the company, it is suggested to make sure to be precise about
the task so that everyone understands their role. With this, even without 24/7 guidance or the owner or
the manager, the team can do their own tasks without resulting to more problems. This will also
improve the skills of everyone because they won't need to depend on each other anymore, as long as
they are aware of what they should and shouldn't do, the workflow will be fine and smoothly done.
What?
Make sure to be precise about the task so that everyone understands their role.
Who?
When?
This act should be done as soon as tomorrow. The team can now start explaining and arranging the tasks
of everyone.
How much?
This Alternative Course of Action doesn't require any money to execute it. The only requirement is to
have a deep talk with each other that will explain and elaborate the problem and the solution to it.
