Mini Performance Task 2 Venn Diagram

This document provides instructions for a mathematics performance task involving Venn diagrams for 7th grade students. It describes Venn diagrams and their uses. Students will be grouped to create a Venn diagram representing a survey of subject preferences and answer questions related to the data. They will submit their work digitally. The task will be evaluated based on a rubric assessing the placement of elements, neatness, organization, and ability to answer questions correctly.

Mini Performance Task 2

I. TITLE: VENN DIAGRAM

II. DESCRIPTION:

A Venn diagram is an illustration that uses circles to show the relationships among things or
finite groups of things. Circles that overlap have a commonality while circles that do not
overlap do not share those traits. Venn diagrams help to visually represent the similarities
and differences between concepts. They have long been recognized for their usefulness as
educational tools. Since the mid-20th century, Venn diagrams have been used as part of the
introductory logic curriculum and in elementary-level educational plans around the world.

III. OBJECTIVES:

a. Create a Venn diagram to represent set relations and operations

b. Formulate challenging situations involving sets and solve these in a variety of strategies
c. Manifest responsibility, collaboration, and creativity in doing the task

IV. PROBLEM:

Note: A survey was conducted on what subjects do the students like between English, Science,
and Araling Panlipunan prior to the writing of the data.

A class of thirty-seven students was asked about the subjects they like between English,
Science and Araling Panlipunan. The response was as follows:

A B C

PANLIPUNAN

Rica Jecel Jumel Reo

V. TASKS:
1. You are grouped into 7 consisting of 4 members per group. Choose a group leader.
2. Share a google doc/google slides with your group members so that everyone from your
group can edit.
3. Prepare a Venn diagram for the problem. Use different colors for each set. Label the
parts. Show your creativity.
4. Answer the questions below:
a. How many students like English only.
b. How many students like Science only.
c. How many students like Araling Panlipunan only.
d. How many students like both English and Science.
e. How many students like both English and Araling Panlipunan.
f. How many students like both Science and Araling Panlipunan.
g. How many students like all three subjects?
5. Save your work in pdf format with the filename Section_GroupNumber_MiniPerfTask2
(ex. CAM_Group1_MiniPerfTask2).
6. Submit your work through this link: https://forms.gle/PXMEHNxQSUJjwHYL7
