GPS Connection

This document provides guidance on synchronizing a new 900MHz UMTS network within an existing multi-band cellular network. It describes two typical installation configurations and the synchronization steps for each. For the first configuration, the GPS from the LTE DUS should connect to the 2100MHz 3G DUW master, which then connects to the 1800MHz 2G DUG. Both DUWs and DUSs connect via fiber cables. For the second configuration, the 900MHz UMTS DUW slaves from the 900MHz 2G DUG via GPS. Both DUWs connect via fiber and the DUGs require firmware version 78G or newer for proper synchronization.

3G U900 progress to synchronization - Ericsson

The progress for sync U900

As you know we have two kind of installation and the most installation are like figure 1:
In figure 1 we have 2G 1800 – 2G 900 – 3G 2100 and 3rd Carrier – LTE 1800 – LTE 2600 and U900
in this kind of installation 2G 1800 and LTE 1800 are share and 3G has two DUW 41 or other (DUW 30 –
31) and LTE has one DUS or in some cases used 2 DUS 41 or 31. In this installation we should follow
below synchronization to run U900.

1. DUS 41/1800 master by GPS cable should be connected to DUW 41/2100 master.
2. DUW 41/U900 slave by GPS cable should be connected to 2G DUG 1800
3. Both DUWs should be connected by F to F cable and IDL cable
4. Both DUSs should be connected by F to F cable and IDL cable (when you have two DUS)
5. DUG 900 and DUG 1800 should be connected by F to F cable
6. Both band of 2G should be in mixed mode ( DUG 900 – DUG 1800 ).

Note: when you are using F to F cable for DUGs you should change DBB in side of IDB to below progress
900 DBB should be 1101 and 1800 DBB should be 1102 and removed ESB cable. (Figure 1-1)

Second topology is below detail and need to follow as Figure 2 :

In figure 2 we have 2G 1800 – 2G 900 – 3G 2100 and 3rd Carrier – LTE 1800 – LTE 2600 and U900
in this kind of installation 2G 1800 used RUS 02 and LTE 1800 used RRUS 12 and 3G has two DUW 41 or
other (DUW 30 – 31) and LTE has one DUS or in some cases used 2 DUS 41 or 31. In this installation we
should use below synchronization to run U900.

1. DUW 41/U900 slave by GPS cable should be connected to 2G DUG 900

2. Both DUWs should be connected by F to F cable and IDL cable
3. Both DUSs should be connected by F to F cable and IDL cable (when you have two DUS)
4. DUG 900 and DUG 1800 should be connected by F to F cable
5. DUG 900 should be in mixed mode and DUG 1800 should be in single mode.

Note: when you are using F to F cable for DUGs you should change DBB in side of IDB to below progress
900 DBB should be 1101 and 1800 DBB should be 1102 and removed ESB cable. (Figure 1-1)

Note: The software version for both DUGs should be 78G or newer than 78G,
