Negative Impacts of the Mining Industry in the Environment

1. replace what is taken
- The development of an environment after mining can be significantly impacted by using soil as a
replacement for mined deposits.

2. Manage the deposits properly

-By doing this toxic waste that is harmful to the environment will not spread to rivers or land that is
rich in life and potentially kill them.

3. monitor the operation

-by monitoring the operation, the risk of having an accident would be significantly low

4. Use of Eco-Friendly Technology

-Using Eco-Friendly Technology will lessen the pollution simply because common mining technology
uses fuel which not good for the surroundings and environment

5. Clean the mining site after mining

-This can reduce toxic waste which is harmful for the environment and animals by cleaning the toxic
waste in abandoned sites

6. set a limitation
- By setting a limit on when to mine a site and preventing the mining of locations with poor deposits,
we may decrease the waste associated with mining.

7. Organize the operation

-Planning the operation always comes first because it is the most efficient way to reduce expenses and
damage to the environment.

8. anticipate on the effects before mining

- By anticipating how much hazardous waste would be generated, it is possible to discover solutions
that would be more effective for the business.

9. reuse the mining waste

-by reusing the mining waste it can give the mining industry a better image

10. develop new and sustainable mining technology

- we can make more advanced technology by researching and developing new materials that are good
for mining.

Do you support the mining industry in the country?

Yes, because I believe that it can change, the mining industry will be eco-friendly in the
future. When the mining stops it can have a big impact in the people, because we need
resources and in order to have that resources, we need to mine it.

Commission on the Appointment on former DENR Secretary Gina Lopez

Yes, I would support her in the election. I don't see anything wrong with what she is
saying, everything she stated is true and accurate. The people and the environment have
suffered because of how the government has leveraged the mining industry to generate
revenue. We cannot ignore the reality that what she is saying is accurate even though it
appears so sensitive and cliche. Since most administrations in the Philippines are
corrupt, the reason I trust her is not just because what she stated was clear-cut and
uncomplicated, but also because she made the point about the issues with the
government.
