COMPLEX ANALYSIS 2 Mark

The document provides a library assignment submitted by five students (22PMA134 - 22PMA139). It includes: 1) One and two mark questions answered by each student related to complex analysis topics like Laurent series, analytic functions, harmonic functions, and the residue theorem. 2) The questions cover concepts like the radius of convergence of series, properties of harmonic functions, computing residues, and using the residue theorem to evaluate integrals. 3) The assignment involves chapters from the textbook "Complex Analysis: An Introduction to The Theory of Analytic Functions of One Complex Variable" by Lars V. Ahlfors.

22PMA134:
1. Function can be expressed in power series of the form

2. Laurent series converges only if the parts consisting of non negative powers
and negative powers are separately convergent
3. Laurent series converges outside the circle |Z|=R
4. Laurent series diverges at R=infinity.

5. General form of Laurent series is

22PMA135:
1. The real and imaginary parts of an analytic function are conjugate harmonic
function.

2. Pu(Z) is not only a function of z, but also a function of the function U.

3. Every analytic function can be developed in a convergent Taylor series.

4. If the logarithmic series had a radius of convergence greater than 1,then

log(1+z)would be bounded for |z|<1.

5. If u1 and u2 are two such functions with the same boundary values ,then u1-u2
is harmonic with the boundary value 0.
22PMA136:

1.The constant multiple of a harmonic function is harmonic.

2.Any harmonic function which depends only on r must be of the form a log
r+b.

3.The radius of convergence cannot be > than that of the derived series.

4.The Central theorem concerning the convergence of analytic function assert

that the limit of a uniform convergent sequence of analytic function is An
analytic function .

5.In poisson integral of U , Pu(z) is not only the fun of z , but also a function of U
as such is called functional.

22PMA137:
1. Can a function have more than one type of singularity at the same point?

 Yes, a function can have more than one type of singularity at the same
point

2. What is the relationship between the residue theorem and Cauchy’s integral
formula?

 The residue theorem is closely related to Cauchy’s integral formula, which

expresses the value of a complex integral in terms of the values of the
function inside the contour.

3. How do you compute the residue of a function at a higher-order pole?

 To compute the residue of a function at a higher-order pole, you can

use the formula Res(f,z0) = (1/(n-1)!) * lim(z->z0) [(d/dz)^n ((z-
z0)^n*f(z))].
4. How do you compute the residue of a function at a simple pole?

 To compute the residue of a function at a simple pole, you can use the
formula Res(f,z0) = lim(z->z0) [(z-z0)*f(z)].

5. How do you use the residue theorem to evaluate a complex integral?

 To use the residue theorem to evaluate a complex integral, you need to

identify the singularities of the integrand function inside the contour
and compute the residues at those points.

22PMA138:

01) If |z|<1, n=1 UT (nzn/1-zn)= ?

Answer:
n=1 UT (z /1-z )
n n z

(Here U refers to “Summation.”)

02) Write Down The Taylor series.

Answer:

f(z)= f(z0)+f’(z0)(z-z0)+….….…..+{[f(n)(z0)/n!](z-z0)n+fn+1(z)(z-z0)n+1} with

fn+1(z)= (1/2/\i) integral over C {f(|)d|/(|-z0)n+1(|-z)}

(Here /\ is “Pi” & | is “zeta.”)

03) Write down the representation of Rational Function.

Answer:

Partial fraction.
Factorization of the Numerator and Denominator.
04) The Riemann Mapping Theorem deals with the mapping of______

Answer:
One simply connected region onto another.

05) Jordan Curve divides the plane into exactly two regions_____

Answer:
Bounded and Unbounded, Then the bounded region is called as
Jordan Region.

22PMA139:

1) The sum of two harmonic functions constant multiple of a harmonic

function are again harmonic
Ans: Harmonic

2) The simplest harmonic function are the linear functions ax+by

Ans: ax+by

3) u1 and u2 are two functions with the same boundary values, then u1-u2 is
harmonic with the boundary values 0
Ans :0

4) State whether true or false: u(z) is uniformly continuous on |z|>R

Ans: false
