MSG-3 MAINTENANCE MANUAL

TIME LIMITS / MAINTENANCE CHECKS

1. Time Limits / Maintenance Checks — General
A. Introduction
This maintenance program has been prepared by Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation to provide
operators with all information necessary to comply with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
requirements of Part 91, Subpart E, Section 91.409, paragraph (f) (3), Part 125, Subpart G, Section
125.247, paragraph (e) (2) and Part 135, Subpart J, Section 135.421, paragraph (a) of the Federal
Aviation Regulations. Additionally, the information contained herein will enable operators to comply
with the requirements of Part 91, Subpart E, Section 91.409, paragraph (f) (4) and Part 135,
Subpart J, Section 135.411, paragraph (a) (2) to construct a suitable maintenance program.
Gulfstream has prepared the MSG-3 Maintenance Program with the intent of providing the
maximum amount of flexibility for the operator. Chapter 5 contains all the requirements of the
MSG-3 derived Maintenance Review Board (MRB) Report plus Gulfstream recommended
inspections. All MRB tasks are identified by MRB task numbers.
Active customer bulletins are part of Gulfstream’s recommended inspection program and are listed
in the Customer Bulletin Index. The Customer Bulletin Index can be found in the Maintenance
Library (MyGulfstream.com / Online Manuals).
NOTE: See Section 05-30-00 Special Inspection Requirements for information.
Unless otherwise noted, references to ASCs or CBs in chapter 5 apply to the initial release and
subsequent revisions of the identified ASC or CB.
A complete glossary of terms and definitions applicable to the Scheduled Maintenance Program can
be found in the Maintenance Review Board Report.
Lubrication requirements specified in this section do not represent the total lubrication provisions for
the aircraft. Operators should see Servicing, 12-00-00, System Description and appropriate
manufacturers, maintenance publications for additional lubrication recommendations.
Aircraft based or frequently operating in a tropical zone, high humidity area, marine environment or
an area of high industrial pollution should be inspected more frequently.
B. Engine Programs
Both Chapter 5 and MRB Report offer an engine program option consisting of Task Oriented or Hard
Time. An operator may use either the Task Oriented maintenance program listed in this Chapter or
a Hard Time program under the following rules:
• The Tay 611-8 MRB engine program is intended as an on wing program only. The operator
should consult the engine manufacturers program for detailed shop visit maintenance.
• An operator may use either the task oriented maintenance program listed in this report or a
manufacturers “Hard Time” program under the following rules:
– An operator using the program contained in this report must use the criteria as defined
in Appendix 2 of Rolls Royce TAY-70-1493 Service Bulletin in order to change to a
manufacturers “hard time” program.
– An operator using the manufacturers “hard time” program must use the criteria as
defined in Appendix 2 of Rolls Royce TAY-70-1493 Service Bulletin in order to change
to the program contained in this report.
At first “A” Check after entry into service, the operator is required to declare which engine
maintenance program they intend to follow with their local regulatory authority.

C. Time In Service
With respect to maintenance time records, means the time from the moment an aircraft leaves the
surface of the earth until it touches it at the next point of landing.
NOTE: For the purposes of tracking maintenance requirements in the Gulfstream AMM, the terms
cycles and landings are equivalent.

This section provides maintenance checks and inspections on the aircraft which are directed
by special or unusual conditions encountered during aircraft ground handling, takeoff / landing
or airborne incidents.
F. Manufacturers Recommended Inspection Program (MRIP) Tasks
Manufacturers Recommended Inspection Program (MRIP) tasks are derived external to the MSG-3
process and reflect Gulfstream’s recommendations for enhanced reliability and economic benefit.
MRIP tasks may be in addition to or have a more frequent interval than an MRB task.
