List of The Total Materials To Upgrade Every Piec

This document is a discussion on a GameFAQs message board about the total materials needed to fully upgrade armor in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. I pulled the material counts from the total upgrades column
and added them up, combining multiple instances of the same
material into one count.

I tried roughly sorting the materials into the order listed when I
sorted "by type" ingame but I don't actually have all of these
materials so I guessed the order for some. Also sometimes the
order is weird like with the Electric Safflina not being next to
the other two so I'm not sure if that's just me or the order is
meant to be weird.

I mostly made this for anyone obsessive like me who wants to

know how much of each material they would need to fully
upgrade everything. Plus this lets you know how much to dupe
certain items.

I'm surprised by how few dragon parts you actually need.

Everyone was going crazy duping these but (with the
exception of spikes) you only need 3-5 of each part from each
dragon. Lol

Yeah I think it's pretty funny how relatively few you actually
need. It's mostly just a huge pain actually trying to get all these
parts legit bc of the amount of time you have to wait. Never
hurts to have a surplus though, especially if they introduce
more armors in DLC that may require these materials for
upgrades

And this is why I don't plan on upgrading anything past level 2.

They learned nothing from the pain of BotW.

79020 rupees

How much Rupees was it in BOTW? 10k for the final time, 500
for the third, 200 or was it 50 for second, and 10 Rupees for
the first? All one-time only?

Yeah... this is ridiculous to add on top of the amount of

materials you need to upgrade.

You didn't pay rupees for upgrades in botw. The fairies just
asked for rupees as a one time payment before they opened
up

In BOTW it was one-time fee to unlock them THE FAIRIES. Not

to upgrade gear.

In KOTK you have to PAY them for EACH LEVEL upgrade on

gear. Making it more than 6x the amount of Rupees to spend
to upgrade everything compared to BOTW.

Yeah I don't really get why they make you pay so many rupees
in addition to having the same resource grind and lengthy side
quests to unlock them. Even just removing the rupees would
have made more sense to me

And that's what ticks me off. The system was fine in BOTW.

There's no need to add ANOTHER thing on top of it. And

baffling there's people on these boards DEFENDING this add-
on to upgrading your gear.

All it does it disrespect the time you invest in this game.

There are good changes and improvements in this game, but

man there's some step backwards here and there like this one.

It is more cost effective to just have your Endura Carrot meals

or whatever you like instead and as long as you aren't getting
one-shot, open up the inventory, eat an "uber meal" and then
go back to whatever. I've actually been tossing most of the
meals they give you as quest rewards since you generally only
need one piece of resistance armor, sometimes two without
buffs to not take damage. In the Gloom I gave up worrying
about broken hearts since visiting a light restores those; it is a
problem if you are exploring early on with a handful of hearts,
but by mid-game it isn't an issue except for the annoying end
stuff.
