My name is Kim Hung Nguyen, and I am writing this statement to express my sincere intention to
continue my studies in Australia. Born in Vietnam and currently residing in Australia on a student visa
that expires in 07 September 2023, I am currently enrolled in the Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood
Education at Victoria University, with plans to pursue a Master of Education at the same esteemed
institution which ends on 27-09-2024.
My journey in Australia began in 2019 when I achieved my bachelor's degree in visual communication
design from Deakin University in Melbourne. The decision to study in Australia was deeply influenced by
a family friend who had pursued her education in Melbourne. Listening to her experiences about the
cultural richness and the quality of education in Australia ignited a strong desire within me to embark on
a similar path. I worked diligently to improve my English language skills and academic performance to
qualify for a bachelor's program. The experience of living in a diverse and vibrant country like Australia
has been invaluable, and I have cherished every moment of it.
After completing my bachelor's degree, I ventured into the professional world, where I worked in the
visual communication design industry for two years. However, the unexpected onset of the COVID-19
pandemic had a profound impact on my life and career. During the long periods of lockdown, I felt a
sense of isolation and realized that my career lacked the fulfillment I had sought. It was a pivotal
moment that prompted me to reevaluate my goals and passions. I decided to explore my interest in
website development and pursued a course in Adelaide. However, I soon discovered that the course did
not align with my true calling. Feeling lost and seeking direction, I switched to a marketing course for a
few months, trying to find my path in the ever-evolving landscape of career opportunities.
It was during a visit to Melbourne to see my friend, who had become an Early Childhood teacher, that I
found my true calling. She shared heartfelt stories about the profound impact she made on young lives
and the joy she derived from her work. She identified in me the qualities of patience and warmth that
are essential for a successful Early Childhood educator. Moreover, she believed that my background in
art and design would complement my ability to create engaging learning experiences for children. As I
delved into my research, I learned about the shortage of qualified early years teachers in Vietnam. This
crucial stage of a child's development is often overlooked, and I realized the significance of providing a
comprehensive education environment to support their growth. Inspired by my friend's experiences and
motivated to make a difference in my home country, I made the decision to pursue a course in Early
Childhood Education. With unwavering support from my parents, I applied for the Graduate Diploma in
Early Childhood Education at Victoria University and was thrilled to be accepted into the program.
Now, pursuing my Master's degree will allow me to delve deeper into educational theories, research,
and teaching methodologies. I am excited about the opportunity to specialize in areas that align with my
interests and career goals, such as curriculum development and educational leadership. Through
networking and research opportunities, I hope to stay up-to-date with the latest trends in the field and
contribute to its advancement. Ultimately, I see this journey as not only enhancing my career prospects
but also as a means of personal growth and fulfillment.
I decided to enroll in Victoria University due to its outstanding Early Childhood Education program,
known for offering a comprehensive and hands-on education that prepares students for success. VU's
commitment to providing real-world experience, industry connections, distinguished faculty, and an
inclusive learning environment will equip me with essential skills and knowledge. At VU, I have the
opportunity to gain valuable hands-on training, receive mentorship, and collaborate with a diverse
group of peers, enhancing my learning experience. Additionally, the strong alumni network offers
excellent support for my future career aspirations.
I chose Australia as the destination for my higher education due to its appealing qualities. It is an
excellent place to live and study, boasting top universities, breathtaking nature, vibrant cities, beautiful
coastlines, and a diverse blend of cultures with tourists from all around the world. The education system
in Australia holds a remarkable international reputation. Living in Australia provides an opportunity to
step out of our comfort zones and embrace new experiences while finding a sense of belonging in its
multicultural environment. Additionally, the country is renowned for its laid-back and enjoyable lifestyle,
with locals emphasizing a balanced approach to work and life, promoting a healthy and fulfilling way of
living. As an international student, I was irresistibly drawn to the Australian way of life, making it an ideal
choice for my educational journey.
As I look forward to the future, my post-graduate plan revolves around returning to Vietnam to
contribute to the Early Childhood Education sector. I aspire to bring the knowledge and expertise gained
from my Early Childhood Education degree in Australia to address the existing gaps and raise the
standard of education for young children in my home country. My ultimate goal is to establish a
forward-thinking education center that implements the best practices from Australia, offering children
in Vietnam an enriched and holistic learning experience. I also hope to map out the job prospects in
renowned NGOs and Foundations such as the Vietnam Red Cross Society, International Labor
Organization of Vietnam, Oxfam, Habitat for Humanity, and Maison Chance.
In conclusion, I kindly request your approval of my visa application to enable me to continue my pursuit
of excellence in education. Thank you for considering my application, and I look forward to the
opportunity to contribute positively in my home country Vietnam through my academic and
professional endeavors.
Sincerely,
