Task2-Identifying Components

The document describes different types of computer components and their functions. It lists the motherboard, CPU, RAM, ROM, internal hard disk drive, external hard disk drive, graphics card, and peripherals. It then provides descriptions of each component's functions, such as the CPU processing input and storing/outputting data, RAM providing temporary storage and loading applications, and ROM allowing the computer to start up and holding startup programs. Peripherals are described as input devices, output devices, and computer storage systems.

Task 2

In the table below you should describe the functions of each computer
component. Use the course website and the link below to help you complete
this task.

Computer Description of the functions of each

Component component
● Data Management

● Optimize Power Distribution

Motherboard
● Drives Communication

● Process Input
CPU ● Store data
● Output Result
● Reading files

● Temporary Storage

RAM ● Loading Applications

Explain what “Volatile” means:

In computers, volatile is used to describe
memory content that is lost when the power is
interrupted or switched off. Your computer’s
ordinary memory or RAM is volatile memory.

● Allows a computer to start up

● Contains programming needed to start a PC

● holds programs or software instructions

ROM Explain what “Non-Volatile” means:

Non-volatile storage refers to a computer
memory that is able to hold saved data even if
there is no power, and does not require periodic
refreshes of its memory data. Non-volatile
storage is commonly useful for secondary
storage or long-term consistent storage.
● Storing data files

● Store data and program

Storage Devices
● Porting or extracting data files

● Interpreting the instructions received

Graphics Card ● Displaying images on computer

● Ease out video editor’s work

● Input devices

● Output devices
Peripherals
● Computer storage system
