Assalamu’alaikum Wr.Wb.

‫ وأشهد أن محمدا عبده ورسوله أما بعد‬,‫الحمد هلل الذى أمرنا باإليمان واإلسالم أشهد أن الإله إالهللا وحده الشريك له‬
Honorable the juries of speech contest
Honorable the committees of speech contest
and my beloved friends.

First of all, Let us pray and give thanks to Allah SWT, which has given grace, blessing, guidance and His
inayah to us, so that we can gather in this room, without hindrance of any. Our Sholawat and greeting
always deliver on our Uswah, the Great Prophet Muhammad, which has brought us from the dark ages
to the age-lit.
On this occasion, I will deliver a speech on the theme “The Ethical youth in Digital Era”
Nowdays, we live in a modern era where everything is connected through information and
communication technology with all its sophistication, as if this world were borderless or without
boundaries. We are no longer difficult if we want to make friends and communicate with people who
are in other parts of the world.
But on the other hand, it turns out that these conveniences divert our lives from the real world to the
virtual world. Many people are too complacent and comfortable with the virtual world, to the point
where they forget how to live in the real world. So that he becomes indifferent to his environment,
making the distance wider with the people close to him. On the one hand he can be close to people who
are far away, but on the other hand he is even far away from people who are close. All of this is possible
because of social media.
Ladies and gentlemen
Social media is currently an important thing in society, especially among the younger generation. Almost
all of them have social media accounts as a form of existence in their social interactions. Seeing the
activeness of social media users proves that almost all of them receive great benefits. However, the
phenomenon of using social media also raises many problems such as the emergence of slander,
division, not even a few which lead to criminal acts.
We cannot blame the negative impacts that arise on existing social media, because the function of the
media will follow who the users are. If used properly, social media will have a good impact function, and
vice versa. Therefore, when surfing social media, we need to put ethics first.
1. You are not allowed to make hate speech, provocation, or slander. Islam teaches us to maintain
and create peace. So social media must be used as a means to create peace, not the other way
around.
2. Filter before sharing. Not all information that we get from social media and the internet is
guaranteed to be valid. So as intelligent beings, when receiving news, you should first make sure
it's true.
3. No showing off.
Lately there has been a lot of talk about the flexing phenomenon. Many people like to flaunt
their luxury on social media. It's better if we really have excess abilities to be grateful in the right
way without having to show it off on social media.
4. Respect each other.
With the rapid flow of information on social media, there are bound to be pros and cons.
Differences in attitudes and views are natural, so we need to prioritize mutual respect and
appreciation. Do not let our posts or comments on social media contain elements of tyranny. As
in real life, our actions on social media will always be monitored by Allah and recorded by angels
who watch over us. Allah swt says in Suroh Qaf verse 18:

It means, everything we say, there must be an accountability to God.

Ladies and gentlemen.


Thus Islam guides us in this life, in fact we should be able to use social media as a means of
strengthening brotherhood, not the other way around.
May we always receive guidance from Allah so that in this life we live according to His guidelines.
I think that’s all my speech, I wish we can meet again in other occasion, thanks for your kind attention.

Nowdays, kita hidup di era modern dimana segala sesuatu terhubung melalui teknologi informasi dan
komunikasi dengan segala kecanggihannya, seakan-akan dunia ini menjadi borderless atau tanpa batas.
Kita tidak lagi sulit jika ingin berteman dan berkomunikasi dengan orang-orang yang berada di belahan
bumi lain.
Namun di sisi lain, ternyata kemudahan-kemudahan itu mengalihkan kehidupan kita dari dunia nyata ke
dunia maya. Banyak orang yang terlalu terlena dan nyaman dengan dunia maya, sampai lupa bagaimana
hidup di dunia nyata. Sehingga dia menjadi acuh tak acuh kepada lingkungannya, membuat jarak
semakin lebar dengan orang-orang yang dekat dengannya. Di satu sisi dia bisa dekat dengan orang yang
jauh, tapi di sisi lain dia malah jauh dengan orang yang dekat. Semua itu bisa terjadi karena adanya
media sosial.

Media sosial saat ini menjadi hal penting di tengah masyarakat, terutama pada kalangan generasi muda.
Hampir semuanya memiliki akun media sosial sebagai bentuk eksistensi dalam pergaulan sosialnya.
Dengan melihat keaktifan para pengguna media sosial tersebut membuktikan bahwa hampir seluruhnya
menerima manfaat yang besar. Akan tetapi, fenomena penggunaan media sosial ini juga menimbulkan
banyak persoalan seperti timbulnya fitnah, perpecahan, bahkan tidak sedikit juga yang mengarah pada
tindak kriminal.
Dampak negatif yang muncul tersebut tidak bisa kita timpakan kesalahannya pada media sosial yang
ada, sebab fungsi dari media itu akan mengikuti siapa penggunanya. Apabila digunakan dengan baik
maka media sosial akan memberi fungsi dampak yang baik, begitupun sebaliknya. Oleh karena itu,
dalam berselancar di media sosial, kita perlu kedepankan etika.
1. Tidak boleh melakukan hate speech atau ujaran kebencian, provokasi, ataupun fitnah. Islam
mengajarkan kepada kita untuk menjaga dan menciptakan kedamaian. Maka media sosial harus
dijadikan sebagai sarana untuk mewujudkan perdamaian, bukan sebaliknya.
2. Saring sebelum sharing. Tidak semua informasi yang kita dapatkan dari media sosial dan internet
dipastikan kesahihannya. Maka sebagai makhluk yang berakal, ketika menerima kabar sebaiknya
pastikan terlebih dahulu kebenarannya.
3. Tidak boleh pamer.
Belakangan ini ramai dibicarakan fenomena flexing. Banyak orang senang memamerkan
kemewahan di media sosial. Lebih baik jika memang kita memiliki kemampuan berlebih syukuri
dengan cara yang benar tanpa harus memamerkannya di media sosial.
4. Menghargai sesama.
Derasnya arus informasi di media sosial, pasti ada yang menimbulkan pro dan kontra.
Perbedaan sikap dan pandangan merupakan sesuatu yang wajar, maka kita perlu
mengedepankan sikap saling menghormati dan menghargai. Jangan sampai postingan atau
komentar kita di media sosial mengandung unsur kezaliman. Sebagaimana di kehidupan nyata,
perbuatan kita di media sosial pun akan selalu dipantau oleh Allah dan dicatat oleh malaikat
yang mengawasi kita. Allah swt berfirman dalam surat Qaaf ayat 18:

maksud dari ayat diatas yaitu, segala apa yang kita ucapkan, pasti ada pertanggung jawabannya
kepada Allah.

Demikianlah Islam memandu kita dalam kehidupan ini, sejatinya media sosial harus bisa kita gunakan
sebagai sarana mempererat tali persaudaraan, bukan sebaliknya.
Semoga kita senantiasa mendapat petunjuk dari Allah agar dalam kehidupan ini kita jalankan sesuai
dengan pedoman-Nya.
