Separate the subject and the predicate in the following sentences.

1. My eighty-year old mother can still read without glasses.

2. Swimming the Palk Straits was one of the greatest achievements of Mihir Sen.

3. A thing of beauty is a joy for ever.

4. The old books in the library are being rebound.

5. An airplane is a flying machine.

6. A piece of land surrounded by water is called an island.

7. Washing our clothes is one of the duties of our servant.

9. A friend of mine works abroad.
