 ABSTRACT
Online examinations are an important method of evaluating the success potential of students. This
research effort the individuals under consideration were students who would be enrolling in
computer courses or Technologies Registrations. A prototype of a web-based placement
examination system is described from the standpoint of the research effort, end-user, and software
development. An on-line educational system including exam processing and electronic journal
features. An instructor builds a course-based questions which on-line contain in the identification
of assignments. Which are compile into an online exam syllabus? The objective of the system Tool
is to provide better information for the users of this system for better results for their maintenance
in student examination schedule details and grading details.

Online Examination System is an on-line test simulator to take online examination test in an
efficient manner and no time wasting for manually checking of the test paper. The main objective
of this web based online examination system is to efficiently evaluate the student thoroughly
through a fully automated system that not only saves lot of time but also gives fast and accurate
results. For students they give papers according to their convenience from any location by using
internet and time and there is no need of using extra thing like paper, pen etc. Online examination
system helps students to offer a quick and easy way to appear for the test. It also provides the
results immediately after the examination with 100% accuracy and security. Student can enter to
perform exam only with their valid username and password. This examination contains multiple
choice questions and appropriate number of options. There are no limitations on number of options
and it can be randomized, so same set of question will not appear to all student so it prevents
manipulation. More than one option can be correct but the user can select only one option. This
provides time limit. The user can see their results after completing the exam. This helps the
students to write the exam from far distance and which can provide security and simplicity and
other beneficial features to the user.
 INTRODUCTION

Online Examination System using PHP and MYSQL. This system is mainly used to test the skills
of candidate who wish to join the institution. The examination consists of registration of candidate,
selection of topic, certificate preparation, report generation etc. It is a fast-growing examination
method because of its speed and accuracy. It needs less manpower to execute the examination and
provides flexibility and user interface. This system is developed to conduct online exams which
saves the time and energy of students. The institution can easily check the performance of the
student that they give in an examination. As a result of this, institutions are releasing results in less

 OBJECTIVES

• Online examination will reduce the hectic job of assessing the answers given by the
candidates manually.
• Being an integrated online examination system, it will reduce paper work.
• To allow faculty to give additional time to students with disabilities.
• To allow faculty to create tests and answer key.
• To allow automatic grading and manual grading which can be recorded per test.
• Random generation of test question timed exams.
• The result will be shown immediately to the participation students.
• The project allows faculties to create their own tests. It would enable educational institutes
to perform tests, quiz and create feedback forms.

 PROJECT MODULES

There are two modules. They are: -

1. Admin Module
2. Student/Examinee Module

1. Admin module:
In this section admin will manage the list of courses, exams, exam questionnaires, and
examines. The admin can view the exam results and feedbacks of the students.

2. Student/Examinee Module:
The student users can only take the exam, view their results and send feedback to the admin.
 CONCLUSION

The project titled as Online examination was deeply studied and analyzed to design the code and
implement. It was done under the guidance of the experienced project guide. All the current
requirements and possibilities have been taken care during the project time. Online examination
system is a web application. The key concept is to minimize the amount of paper and convert all
forms of documentation to digital form. It can observe that the information required can be
obtained with ease and accuracy in the computerized system. The user with minimum knowledge
about computer can be able operate the system easily. The system also produces brief result
required by the management.

SCOPE

Scope of this project is very broad in terms of other manually taking exams. Few of them are: -

• This can be used in educational institutions as well as in corporate world.

• Can be used anywhere any time as it is a web-based application (user location doesn’t
matter).
• No restriction that examiner has to be present when the candidate takes the test.
• Design to facilitate administrator and user.
• Online examination is designed for educational institutes like schools, colleges and private
institutes to conduct logic tests of their students or employees on regular basis.
