Theory:
A spring pendulum is a physical system where a piece of mask is
connected to a spring so that the resulting motion constant
contains elements at a simple pendulum as well as a string.
When a spring is stretched or compressed the force required to
stretch the spring is given by Hooke’s law:
F = -kx
Where F is force, X is the distance the spring is stretched or
compressed, and K is the spring constant. The spring constant
determines the stiffness at the spring and is measured in
Newton/meter. the minus indicates the force points in the
direction opposite to the displacement.
T = 2^π√(m/k)
Discussion:
The equipment is performed in order to find out the factor affecting the
period of oscillation at T at a spring pendulum and also determining the
spring constant K.
Keeping mass and other factors constant, we measured the time taken
for 10 complete oscillations for a particular deflection which is the
difference between the release point and the equilibrium position at the
hanged mass. we repeated the experiment with different deflections,
averaged the readings, and divided by 10 to get the time period at
oscillation T as shown in Table 1. We plot a graph for T versus L using
our data, which shows a flat line. We can then conclude that time period
is unaffected by changes in deflection.
Table two depicts the data for. At oscillation T as a function at mass M.
In other words, we are investigating the relationship between M and
keeping reflection, spring and other factors fixed, by plotting a graph
against mass.
1. PENDULUM:
A pendulum is a body suspended from a fixed point so that it can
swing back and forth under the influence of gravity. The time
interval of a pendulum's complete back-and-forth movement is
constant.
SPRING PENDULUM:
A spring pendulum (also called elastic pendulum or swinging spring) is
a physical system where a piece of mass is connected to a spring so that
the resulting motion contains elements of a simple pendulum as well as
a spring.
OSCILLATION:
Oscillation is defined as the process of repeating variations of any
quantity or measure about its equilibrium value in time. Oscillation can
also be defined as a periodic variation of a matter between two values or
about its central value.
DEFLECTION:
Deflection is a change in a moving object's velocity, hence its trajectory,
as a consequence of contact (collision) with a surface or the influence of
a non-contact force field.
