Assignment 6

This document discusses a plan to improve the quality of senior year projects at the University of Jordan's engineering programs. It used a root cause failure analysis of past projects to identify problems in four areas: the department, resources, supervisors, and students. The analysis aimed to better align the senior projects with real-world engineering practice. As a result of reforms, the paper shows that the technical quality, steps, and writing of senior projects improved.

Abstract

According to the Quality Assurance (QA) curriculum programs, universities are trying to
make the programs close to the real life of engineers after graduating. This paper presents a
plan to follow-up and grade the Senior Year Project (SYP) to improve the quality of the
projects and reformulate the Engineering Seniors Projects. This paper used the Root Cause
Failure Analysis (RCFA) at previous projects in the University of Jordan. The paper located
the problems that cause the failures for the SYP into four areas; department, resorces,
supervisor and student .

Conclusion
A good overall look is needed to evaluate the current situation, trying to reestablish the
original outcomes of the Senior Year Project (SYP). THE Mechanical Engineering (ME) and the
Electrical Engineering (EE) at the University of Jordan, were motivated to work on Senior
Year Projects (SYP) reformulation to improve the overall Senior Year Projects (SYP) and meet
the newly adopted Quality Assurance (QA) strategy. The paper presented real steps to
follow up the proses of creating the Senior Year Project (SYP) and applicable methods to
evaluate and improve these projects. As shown in table 3, the paper shows that the SYP at
the University of Jordan experienced a major improvement in its technical quality content,
systematic steps and flow, and project writing.
