Word Work Worksheets

Teacher Notes
Thank you so much for the purchase.. This resource is aligned with
Ontario Curriculum, and is intended for use within a Grade 3 or 4 Ontario
Classroom. This product has been written to help guide and assist teachers in
setting up their comprehensive literacy programs. Specifically, this will help
teachers to develop word work routines within their program. I’m a former
Literacy Coach who is passionate about literacy and the junior learner. I have
been teaching for over 13 years, and the majority of my career I have spent in
the junior grades.

If you are feeling intimidated about setting up a literacy

program in a junior classroom, this Resource will help you
and give you tips, tricks and resources to get you going!
How do I use this product?
This product is intended to be used during your literacy to help your students with word work. These
are the worksheets that students complete to show what they have learned about each concept. I
have organized them based on how I introduce word work into my program. The intent is for
students to learn one concept per week. At the end of the year, they would have learned a total of
40 different concepts. At the beginning of the week, teach the students the concept - you may even
want to use my word work anchor charts to help you introduce each concept. Students will then
work on the corresponding worksheet and hand it in by the end of the week. If you want anchor
charts to help introduce these word work concepts to students, check out this product!

What will I find in this product?

This product is divided into different sections. In each section, there are anywhere from 4 - 8
different worksheet activities within the category. The categories include:
• Spelling Patterns
• Punctuation
• Sentence Types
• Parts of Speech
• Vocabulary
• Figurative Language
This will give your students a great overview of grade level word work topics - and will help guide
your instruction!

Again, thank you for your purchase! Don’t forget to leave feedback on this product to help you earn
TPT credits for future purchases!
