Pembudayaan Gaya Hidup Lestari

The document discusses how laws and regulations in Malaysia can enhance sustainability and environmental protection in industries. It provides an overview of the Environmental Quality Act of 1974, which gives the Department of Environment the authority to enforce environmental regulations. The Act established regulations for various sectors to control pollution from industries, vehicles, and development projects. It also covers rules for managing scheduled wastes. The document emphasizes moving industries toward more efficient practices like compliance monitoring, guidelines, and waste management principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle. It promotes moving from waste disposal to approaches like co-processing and adopting best available techniques to minimize emissions.

INDUSTRIES
• Reducing CO2 emissions, replacing fossil fuels by
alternative fuels
• Contributing to a Zero Waste Future by reducing
quantities of waste going to landfills or illegal
dumps, where they can contaminate land and
water, and generate the greenhouse gas
methane
• Offering a local waste management solution
• Preserving natural resources as primary raw
materials are replaced by alternative raw
materials
• Re-purposing residues from other local industries
• Reducing costs for waste generator to dispose
scheduled waste

Cleaner Production
Concept
• To comply with the emission and discharge standards by enforcing the
Environmental Quality Act, 1974 and its regulations, industries should
implement Green Industry Initiatives through Cleaner Production Concept.

• Cleaner Production is the continuous application of an integrated,

preventive environmental strategy towards processes, products and
services in order to increase overall efficiency and reduce damage and risks
for humans and the environment.
