Spss Paper

The document contains 6 tables summarizing results from a research study on perceived stress and day-to-day experiences. Table 1 shows that most participants were female (77.1%) and had a bachelor's degree (68.6%). Table 2 indicates the Perceived Stress Scale had low reliability (α=0.43) while the Day-to-Day Experiences scale had moderate reliability (α=0.65). Table 3 suggests items 1, 2 and 3 on the Perceived Stress Scale did not adequately measure the construct. Table 5 finds a significant positive correlation between the two scales. Table 6 determines there was no significant gender difference on perceived stress.

Table 1

Demographic characteristic of the sample

variable f %
Gender
Males 16 22.9
Females 54 77.1
Education
Bachelor 48 68.6
Intermediate 17 24.3
Master 5 7.1
Note:F= frequency, % =percentage

Interpretation:
In the above table two demographic variables are mentioned gender and education in gender the
frequency for male is 16 and the percentage is 22.9 and the frequency for females is 54 and the
percentage is 77.1. where is in education there were 48 students who belongs to bachelor level
and the percentage they comprises is 68.6. where is 17 students who belong to intermediate level
and correspondence percentage was 24.3 and there were only 5 students who did masters and
they comprised 7.1 percent of the sample.

Table 2

Descriptive statistic of the scales

scales No of items M S.D Range Coefficient

potential actual alpha
PSS 10 53.77 10.30 0-40 5-6 .43
DDE 15 19.13 3.95 15-90 32-88 .65
Note: M=mean, S.D= standard deviation, PSS= perceived stress scale, DDE= day to day
experience

INTERPRETATION:
In the above table the scale PSS has total number of item is 10 with the mean of 53.77 and standard
deviation of 10.30 which shows the ranges in potential is 0-40 and in actual shows 5-6 and coefficient
alpha is .43 which shows the low reliability and the scale DDE has total number of item 15 with the
mean of 19.13 and standard deviation is 3.95 which shows the range in potential is 15-90 and in actual
potential 32-88 and its coefficient alpha is .65 which shows moderate reliability.

Extra inf: 0.7 high, .50-.70 moderate , .50 low

Table 3

Item total correlation of PSS scale (items 10=, N =70)

Item no r
1 .271
2 .056
3 .126
4 .-.168
5 .52
6 .406
7 .177
8 .169
9 .249
10 .471
Note; r= corrected item total correlation

Interpretation:
In the above table item total correlation of item number 1 is .27 which is less than .30 which indicates it
is not a very good item similarly item number 2 is .056 which is too less than .30 which shows that it is
poor item same is the case of item number 3 is .126 that item is negatively contributed which shows
that it has inverse relationship with the total scores like individual who are getting high scores on the
scale are scoring low on this item.

Extra inf; all those item which are lesser than .30 should be excluded form of the scale to imrove
reliability of the scale.

Table 5

Inter scale correlations of PSS and DDE

scales 1 2
PSS ….. .
DDE .07** …..
Note: PSS=perceived stress scale,DDE= day to day experience, *= p<0.01

Extra information;

Inter scale means correlation between 2 scales

Interpretation;
The result of table number 5 shows that there is a significant positive correlation between perceived
stress scale and day to day experience at .o1 level
Table 6

T value showing gender differences on PSS

variable Males Female Cohen d

M std M std T(68) p
pss 19.96 3.43 18.96 4.11 .64 .52 .19

Extra information; when we look for differences between 2 conditions.

INtERPRETATION;
In the above table the t value is computed to find out the gender differences in perceived strees scale
so the total number of male is 16 and female were 54 the correspondence mean for the male was 19.96
and standard deviation 3.43 for female mean was 18.96 and standard deviation was 4.11 the
calculated value for t was .64 the p value shows that is it is insignificant so it shows that there is no
gender differences between male and female on perceived strees scale the value of cohen d also shows
the it a low effect size.

Table 4
Percentiles of perceived stress scale

Percentiles Raw scores

90 24.00
85 23.00
80 22.00
75 22.00
70 21.00
65 21.00
60 20.00
55 20.00
50 19.50
45 19.00
40 18.00
35 18.00
30 18.00
25 17.00
20 17.00
15 15.00
10 14.00
5 11.10

INTERPRETATION:
In the above table raw score is 25 and its correspondence percentile is 95 its means individual
has perform better than 95 percent of individual on standardization sample this individual is
again the highest score on standardization sample because n0 b0dy has score higher than this
person. If individual has scores 24 on other scale so individual again 90% percentile which
shows the individual has perform better than 90% of the score higher than 90% of the people
and only 5% and 10% of the people has score higher than this individual
