SmartICS installation 
Install SmartICS on your device (PC, laptop). Please choose the relevant installation
kit depending on the OS used on the device (Windows, Linux).
Start/Initiate SmartICS using a desktop icon and create an Admin user. 
Username: admin

Password: 1
Save and remember your credential details - credentials are required to access
the project. 

Temporary license installation


Install a temporary license. If it has been more than 24h since the installation, please
restart the ioServer in Control Center (a desktop icon).

Device connection
Simulate a new device: 

Menu → Data source → Demo devices → Add device

Or connect your device using the Modbus protocol in the Modbus Client section.
Use the automatic dashboard creation for your demo device.

Modify existing dashboard.



1. In a third-party graphics editor, create a background for the dashboard with 



the following elements Ì

Widgets for controlling signals on the diagram

To create a background, Figma or Adobe Illustrator are recommended.


SVG images are easier to scale.
2. Upload the file with the created background to the image library:

Profile → Profile → Image library → Upload image

íß  Create a card on the dashboard.

The other cards can be deleted.


ß Add an Image widget to the card. Use the search bar for a quick search.

Select the mage widget. In the widget properties, add a background image from

the library. Enlarge the mage widget to fit the whole card.

Pin the widget so that it becomes unavailable for interaction and does not interfere
with further steps with the dashboard.

Oß Add widgets to the dashboard.


For a table, use Text Note widgets to label parameter names and table names. 

To display values from parameters, use any suitable widgets.
For a graphical display of information, you can use the following widgets: Bars, Pie, 

or widgets from the Trend section.

Display a few more tags this way.
Add widgets to the mnemonic scheme to display information and color indication 

of signals. Add widgets to control the signals used in the scheme.
^ß Change the name of the dashboard.

Settings
Customize the signals used on the dashboard. Go to the section:

Menu → Data source → Settings

Provide names for the parameters, settings, and associated messages to be used.

include the tags used on the mnemonic scheme.  



Save the filters.


R eturn to dashboards.


Add two Lin tton navigation widgets to the dashboard. In the widget settings,

create the link to the saved filters.

Copying Generic Devices


Copy the demo device:

Menu → Data source → Demo devices → Copy device

Make sure that the device has been copied along with the dashboard created for it, 

and the signals from the new device are automatically linked to the new dashboard.


Change the name of the new dashboard.

Creating Users and Roles


Create a ne role and a ne user:

Menu → Settings → Users

Create a new Operator role and restrict the permissions for this role.
The role must have data source management disabled.
Configure the Lists of available options for this role:

List of parameters → Customi able → ew → Apply z N

In the created list, restrict access by selecting (ticking) only the second demo device
(the copied one).
Create a new user.


Set a new login and password and select Operator as the role.
Click ser ettings → mport. And choose from which user to import (from

the Administrator).
In the last section (Pages) select only the dashboard for the Demo 2 (copy) device. 

Add additional settings if necessary.

Log out of the Administrator user and log in as the created user. Check if the
dashboard works.

If the new user does not have rights to manage backups, then log in as
Administrator.
Upload the backup from the system as a file.
