Objective of this course:
The objective of this theory class is –

• Concepts of voltage, current, power, energy,


sources, resistance, energy storage elements,
and circuit configurations.
• Different analysis techniques to apply and
circuit theorems for the solution of DC resistive
circuits.
• Natural and step responses of RL and RC
circuits.
• How to build basic electrical circuits and
operate fundamental circuit lab equipment.
Course Outline (Up to Mid)
■ Introduction to Basic Electrical Engineering

■ Circuit variables and elements: Voltage, current, power,


energy, independent and dependent sources, and resistance.
■ Basic laws: Ohm’s law, Kirchoff’s current and voltage
laws. Simple resistive circuits: Series and parallel circuits,
voltage and current division, wye-delta transformation.
■ Mathematical analysis of electrical circuits: Nodal and
mesh analysis including super node and super mesh.
■ Network theorems: Source transformation, Thevenin’s,
Norton’s, and superposition theorems, Maximum power
transfer condition, and reciprocity theorem.
