• Use the marks awarded for each area as an indication of how much you have to write for
each section
• Use appendices to provide information which expands upon something you have mentioned
in the main report. Please note the word count doesn’t apply to information in the appendices
• Use visuals, graphics, tables, images to enhance the readability of your report.
• All reports must be submitted via Turnitin. Please ensure your banner number is on the front cover
of your report.
Time Management: ⏱ Start your assessment early: allow yourself enough time to identify
any issues or concerns and ask for help;
Submit your assessment on time: allowing you to prevent being penalised (the 10
marks we deduct is a lot and can make a difference between an A3 or a B1, or even a pass or
a fail);
Putting your work together: Anonymous marking: we would normally not ask you to
put your name on a written assessment — so DON’T;
Think about the presentation of your work: if asked to write a report, have a (nice)
title page, executive summary, table of contents, headings (with a meaningful and clear
structure);
Referencing: Use academic resources: particularly academic journal article — not only
to strengthen your argument but also to help you develop your academic writing skills;
Make sure you understand how to reference: this could cost you valuable marks and it
is so easy to improve your grades by simply referencing properly.
Use Turnitin as a developmental tool: you can submit drafts prior to the deadline —
helping you identify any issues with your referencing or potential plagiarism;
Engage with the feedback: we provide you with thorough feedback on your work,
allowing you to further develop your own skills and abilities, helping you succeed in your
university journey…
