access this information and allow them to inflict all manner of harm on individuals who are
compromised.
3. Digital Communication
Digital Communication is the act of people utilizing digital devices or networks - be they e-mail,
instant messaging (I.M.), Text messaging, blogs, or Wiki, just to name a few means - to
communicate with each other.
4. Digital Literacy
Digital Literacy involves educating people to utilize digital technology.
5. Digital Etiquette (Netiquette)
Digital etiquette, or netiquette, involves responsible digital behavior and appropriate use of
digital devices
6. Digital Law

7. Digital Rights and Responsibilities

post, and utilize digital information in exchange for exercising ethical behavior and decorum in
their conduct in digital space.
8. Digital Health and Wellness
Digital health and wellness entail digital users sustaining their physical health while avoiding
addiction to online or digital sources.
9. Digital Security and Protection
While digital and online sources provide all manner of opportunity to access materials from
seemingly secure locations, users often overlook the fact that they can expose themselves to all
manner of risks due to messages which they send being permanently preserved in cyberspace,

THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE IMPACT OF ICT IN OUR LIVES:

As it is known from time immemorial that everything in life is like the two side of a coin, there is
always a positive and negative side of every phenomenon.
POSITIVE IMPACTS OF ICT CAN HAVE POSITIVE IMPACTS ON PEOPLE:
Access to information: Possibly the greatest effect of ICT on individuals is the huge increase
in access to information and services that has accompanied the growth of the Internet.

NEGATIVE IMPACTS OF ICT ON PEOPLE:

• Job loss: One of the largest negative impact of ICT can be the loss of the person’s job.
• Reduced personal interaction: Being able to work from home is usually regarded as being
a positive impact of using ICT but, there can be negative impact as well

• Reduced physical activity: A third negative effect of ICT is that users may adopt a more
sedentary lifestyle.

NEGATIVE IMPACTS OF ICT ON ORGANIZATION:

• Cost : the cost of using ICT may cause a number of problems in organizations. A lot of ICT
hardware and software is expensive, both to purchase and to maintain.
• Competition: this is usually thought of as being a good thing, but for some organizations
being exposed to greater competition can be a problem.
• Security: this is always a problem for any organization that uses ICT. Data must be kept
secure, Internet connections must be protected from attack, new viruses and other forms of
malware are released nearly every day.

ICT CAN HAVE POSITIVE EFFECT ON THE SOCIETY: Probably the largest impact that ICT
use has on society is allowing members of society tohave greatly increased access to
information. This can have numerous positive effects, such as:
• increasing opportunities for education
• improving communication
• allowing people to participate in a wider, even worldwide, society.

The positive impact of ICT on education:

On the positive side, the use of ICT in education can provide opportunities that might not
otherwise exist, such as:
• distance learning, where students can access teaching materials from all over the
world, A Self-Regulated Learning Module
• the ability to perform ‘impossible’ experiments’ by using simulations,
• the possibility for students to have individual learning programs within a topic, rather than
everybody having to do the same thing at the same time at the same pace. More able students
can be given more challenging work, less able students can access remedial lessons.
