The course will be taught through a combination of formal tutorial, exercise,


language games, cooperative group work, using authentic reading materials, appropriate skills in writing sentences and paragraphs, and composing an essay. Collaborative teamwork will be fosters throughout the course. The use of in class short quizzes and continuous assessment will evaluate the students ability to apply critical thinking and encourage students to respond and participate actively

in class. Assessment strategy: Formative Summative This course is foundation course that aims to provide students with the reading and writing skills needed for basic proficiency at level university. The reading component aims to expose students to variety of issues and reading strategies, while the writing component focuses on the application of writing skills, through sentences, paragraph writing and then essay composing. A variety of activities intended at enhancing students soft-skill that includes practice in problem-solving, critical thinking and team work have been embedded in the overall design of the course.
