Essay on Many Marriage end in divorce, often because love has
failed

Marriage is a significant event in one's life, but unfortunately, many marriages

end in divorce. One of the primary reasons for divorce is the failure of love.
Love is a crucial element of any marriage, and without it, the relationship can
suffer. When couples enter into marriage, they are usually in love and
committed to each other. However, as time passes, the love may fade, leading to
a breakdown in the relationship.
There are several causes of the failure of love in a marriage. One of them is the
lack of communication between partners. When couples fail to communicate
with each other, they may not understand each other's needs and desires, leading
to misunderstandings and conflicts. Another cause is the lack of effort put into
the relationship by one or both partners. When one partner stops putting in the
effort to maintain the relationship, it can create a rift between them. In some
cases, infidelity can also cause the failure of love in a marriage.
The effects of a failed marriage can be devastating. The couple may suffer
emotionally, financially, and mentally. Children can also be negatively affected
by divorce, and their upbringing may be impacted. Divorce can lead to feelings
of loneliness, depression, and anxiety for both partners.
At last, the failure of love is one of the leading causes of divorce in marriages.
Couples need to communicate with each other, put in the effort to maintain the
relationship, and remain faithful to each other to prevent the love from fading.
The effects of a failed marriage can be significant, so it is crucial to work on
maintaining the love and commitment in a relationship.
Marriage is supposed to be a lifelong commitment between two people who
love and care for each other. Unfortunately, many marriages end in divorce,
often because love has failed. This essay will examine the causes of this failure
based on the stories "As it was in the Beginning" by E. Pauline Johnson, "The
Lion's Hair" Ethiopian folktale, and the Nepalese social perspective.
In "As it was in the Beginning," E. Pauline Johnson
Explores the theme of love and marriage in the context
of Indigenous culture. The story portrays how the marriage between the
protagonist and her husband starts off with love and joy but eventually turns
sour. The cause of the failure is the lack of communication and the husband's
inability to understand the protagonist's needs and desires. The husband fails to
recognize the protagonist's feelings and her desire for emotional support,

leading to her feeling neglected and unloved. This lack of communication and
emotional connection eventually leads to the breakdown of their marriage.
The couple in the story experienced a breakdown in their marriage due to their
inability to communicate effectively and understand each other's needs. The
husband's refusal to adapt to his wife's new lifestyle and the wife's reluctance
to express her feelings eventually led to their separation. This story reminds us
that in any relationship, both parties must be willing to listen and make
necessary adjustments to maintain a healthy and happy union.
Another important lesson from this story is that relationships require effort and
commitment. The couple in the story allowed the pressures of their individual
lives to pull them apart, rather than working together to overcome their
challenges. The story also highlights the dangers of taking one's partner for
granted and assuming that love alone is enough to sustain a relationship.
Ultimately, the story encourages us to cherish and prioritize our relationships,
putting in the necessary work to keep them strong and fulfilling.
As In "The Lion's Hair"
An Ethiopian folktale, portrays how a couple's
marriage is on the verge of failure due to a lack of harmony and peaceful
relations. The cause of the problem is that the couple finds faults with each
other and quarrel over little things. This eventually leads to the wife seeking a
divorce. However, the wise old judge advises the wife to bring a lion's hair to
repair her broken relationship. Through determination and resolve, the wife
manages to bring the lion's hair, and the judge tells her that her determination
not to be separated from her husband is the only medicine needed to make her
marriage better. This story shows that a lack of patience, determination, and
resolve can lead to the breakdown of a marriage.
"The Lion's Hair" is a story that teaches us about the importance of
determination and persistence in relationships. The story's moral is that in
difficult times, one should not give up on their relationship, but instead, show
patience and resilience to overcome the obstacles. The story advises that love is
not enough to sustain a marriage, but it is the willingness to work together and
overcome the difficulties that matter.

Additionally, the story teaches us the importance of bravery and taking risks in
relationships. It advises that sometimes, one must take bold steps and face their
fears to save their marriage. In this case, the woman had to overcome her fear of
lions and get close to the beast to obtain its hair to save her marriage. The story
suggests that couples must take bold steps, be patient, and persistent to keep
their relationship strong and healthy.

2
In the Nepalese social perspective

Divorce was once a taboo, and marriage was seen

as a sacred union. However, with the changing times, divorce rates have been
increasing. The cause of the failure of marriages in Nepal is often due to the
changing societal norms, lack of education, and financial dependence on the
husband. Women are often subjected to domestic violence and other forms of
abuse, leading to their seeking divorce. Additionally, the pressure to conform to
societal norms and expectations, such as arranged marriages and marrying
within one's caste, can also lead to unhappy marriages.

It is considered as a failure to maintain a successful marriage, which is highly

valued in Nepalese culture. Women who seek divorce are often looked down
upon, and their reputation may be tarnished. Additionally, divorce can lead to
financial instability, especially for women who may struggle to support
themselves and their children. Therefore, many couples may stay in unhappy or
abusive marriages due to societal pressure and fear of the consequences of
divorce. Despite efforts to improve women's rights and access to legal recourse
in recent years, the traditional mindset regarding divorce still persists in many
areas of Nepalese society.

In conclusion, the causes of the failure of marriages, as portrayed in "As it was

in the Beginning," "The Lion's Hair," and the Nepalese social perspective, can
be attributed to a lack of communication, emotional connection, patience,
determination, societal norms and expectations, education, and financial
dependence. Marriage requires a lot of effort, understanding, and love to
maintain. If these factors are lacking, then the marriage is likely to fail.
Therefore, it is essential to address these causes and work towards creating a
society where marriages can thrive and couples can have a lifelong commitment
filled with love and happiness.
