How to Build a Gaming PC

How To Build A PC

This is a basic guide for how to build a PC. Follow all the instructions included and
make sure you read up on the specific parts you get for your PC. It is good to first find
out what you are going to be using your PC for, because you can then understand the
quality your needs and be able to move forward in finding the correct build for you. This
is going to be a basic build with recommendations based on personal preference. will
need and move forward in finding the correct build for you.

Step 1: Finding your PC Bbuild

 Step 1: Find a website or store where you can buy the parts needed for your PC. I
personally prefer Newegg, but there are more than I could list. There is an
endless list of different computer part manufacturers and specs that go together.
I would recommend using a website that lists the specs of each part like NewEgg
so that you can make sure you are ordering the correct parts.

 Step 2: Pick your processor, I would personally go with Intel, they are more
expensive but better quality.
 (note that once you pick your first part, all of the other parts you order will need
to be compatible, or else you will not be able to use them together)
 (Newegg allows you to look at parts specific to your build, this makes things a
lot easier)
 Step 3: Pick your motherboard, MSI and Acer are good choices.
 Step 4: Pick your RAM setup, it is best to have at least 8GB RAM, I would
recommend 16GB.
 Step 5: Pick a hard drive, I would recommend getting something with at least
500GB of storage
 Step 6: Pick a power supply, your motherboard and processor will have minimum
power requirements under their specs.
 Step 7: Pick a graphics card, if you want to play any type of heavy games you will
need 8GB to 12GB.
 Step 8: Pick a tower that will be able to fit all of the parts you are ordering inside,
the motherboard specs will have the required size tower you need.
 Step 9: Order any extra fans or cooling systems you may need.
 OPTIONAL: Order a Disc Drive so that you can use CD’s, movies, etc. It is best to
start with the Processor you want, once you find it, look at its chipset and make a
list of compatible motherboards.
 Once you find the motherboard you would like, you need to find a tower that it will
fit inside, this will be listed if you use the correct website and will make it easier
to narrow down your search.
 After the processor and motherboard, you are going to need to find a power
supply, RAM, hard drive, graphics card, fans(or cooling system), and if you prefer,
a SSD.

Step 2: Order your parts

 Step 10: Once you have purchased the parts to make your PC, you will need to
order them or go pick them up in store, this is going to be the easiest part of this
process. Once you have purchased the parts to make your PC, you will need to
order them or go pick them up in store, this is going to be the easiest part of this
process.

Step 3: Building your PC

 Step 11: You want to start by opening your tower, make sure that any packaging
is removed and you have the necessary tools.
 Step 12: Screw in your motherboard, make sure they are secure but not too tight.
 Step 13: Install each of the other parts you have ordered, there will be slots for
the processor, RAM, graphics card, and hookups for the hard drive, fans, and
power supply.
 (note make sure you put the thermal paste on top of the processor before you
install the fan on top)(if your processor requires it)
 (note you should watch some videos to get a better visual representation, some
pictures are included below on the locations for parts, but remember every
motherboard has a different setup)
 Given that all the parts you ordered are correct, you will want to first start with the
tower, start by removing the side opposite to the motherboard mount.
 Once you have this done, you will be able to screw in your motherboard, make
sure that the screws are secure, but not too tight.
 From here, you will be able to install all your other parts in no specific order, make
sure you use extra care with the processor (to not bend any of the pins or mess
anything up).
 When you install your processor make sure before you put the fan on top, you
install the thermal paste directly to the processor.

Step 3 Cont.

 Due to there being an endless amount of different motherboards, the locations

for your parts are sometimes in different places, it would be helpful to watch a
couple videos so that you understand what the locations for the processor, RAM,
hard drive, power supply, etc. look like.
 Screw/Clip in your parts before you start plugging them in, this will make
everything a lot easier to organize.

 Step 14: Make sure you have every part plugged in to the correct places on the
motherboard and if necessary, into the power supply. Once everything is in place,
start plugging in all of your parts, anything that uses power aside from the RAM
and Processor will need to be hooked up to the power supply, and try to organize
it to the best of your ability.

Step 4: Install an OS (operating system)

 Step 15: Buy a copy of Windows 11 from Microsoft

 (note there is multiple different operating systems, I am just recommending
that you download windows for this computer)
 Step 16: Download Windows 11, after you plug in the drive or insert the disc, it
will walk you through the rest. The two easiest operating systems to get going
are Windows and Linux, I would say that Windows would be easier because you
do not have to learn how to use the command line.
 The easiest way is to get your OS on a flash drive and then convert the flash drive
to a boot drive.
 Once you complete this, you will be able to boot from that drive (when its plugged
into the computer) you will open up the boot menu (it is called different things on
different computers) and select the drive.
 It normally takes anywhere from 30min to 2hrs to install an operating system and
if there are any errors the computer will let you know.
Step 5: Enjoy your PC!

 Congratulations, you have successfully built your own PC, you can now use it
for whatever purpose you would like, make sure to look into getting virus
protection and a VPN. (I included some cool builds to get your imagination
going).
