INTRODUCTION TO STATISTICS
I. CONTENT STANDARD
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts, uses and importance of Statistics,
data collection/gathering and the different forms of data representation, measures of central tendency,
measures of variability, and probability.
IV. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students are able to:
a. define statistics;
b. gather data by measuring the arm span of the classmates;
c. organize the data from the classmates measurement of arm spans; and
d. cite the importance of statistics in travelling to school.

2. Choose three of your classmates and measure their height and weight. And organize it and present
the data in your own creative but accurate way.
VIII. ASSIGNMENT
1. Make a survey in your community or in school to find out how far students travel to come to school.
Make the best estimate using kilometres. Ask at least 40 students and present your data using different
methods.
2. Study about organizing and presenting data using the frequency table.
