feature story or not. Choose the letter of the
correct answer.

“Kindness in words creates confidence.

Kindness in giving creates love.”
This saying from a great Chinese
philosopher, Lao Tzu, inspired Jashzheinna
Kyzelle N. Decena, 12 years old, who purposely
grew her hair for three years just to be cut, 25
inches long, on October 4, 2017.
It was an event called “Hair for Hope”,
urging volunteers to cut and donate their hair to
be made as wigs for the cancer patients who are
experiencing hair loss due to series of
chemotherapy sessions.”
“In time, my hair will grow back even
longer if I want to, but the person who will wear
this do not have that luxury of time. I want to give
them happy memories and who knows they might
get well because of that happy feeling,” Kyzelle
said cheerfully.
According to the Department of Health,
cancer is killing 300,000 victims a year, 800
every day, and 33 every hour. However,
kidsofhope.org cited that the House of Hope
(HOH), a foundation in Davao City that shelters
cancer patient children in Mindanao, more than
600 have survived under their care since 2007.
Hopefully, Kyzelle’s selfless act will
persuade more people to help the cancer
patients in any form and see them with happy
faces. They can be hopeful than before as they
combat the disease because they know that they
are loved.
