5. Limitations
The following known issues remain in this release.

EXT-2 [Simulation]
410 Interaction Simulation & start/stop jobs. Do not launch simulations when some start/stop jobs are on
going on the system. The simulation results can be impacted.

EXT-2 [Input TSoIP]


236 When using TSoIPv3 input, forcing manually Main or Backup input does not display information
alarm. The operation is done properly.

EXT-2 [Electra X2 - Electra XT equivalence]


137 When checking "switch to VBR during avail" option, there is no additional option allowing to force an
avail duration (option available in Electra X2)

EXT-2 [Hardware]
047 You must not insert a module integrated in version 2.70 and upper in a cluster with version 2.64
No alarm inconsistency version error can be raised in this case.
The effect is that there will be no video at the job running on the module.

EXT-1 [Live SD-HD trancodier workflow]


957 Electra XT does not use the specified value defined in the workflow to create Independent PCR PID if
a MPTS output is defined.

EXT-1 [TSoIP]
930 Memory leak when input switch between main and backup if streams are different.

EXT-1 [SCTE-20 passthru]


848 SCTE-20 Closed Captions are corrupted after frame rate reduction.

EXT-1 [Encoding - H.264 / H.265]


847 If configured encoding format is not supported the job may synchronize in loop without alarm.

EXT-1 [ALC]
683 Audio level is incorrect if ALC mode is A-weighted. since version

676 Target Audio level configured is not respected with EBU R128 mode. The real average audio output
level may be lower than the value configured.

EXT-1 [IGMPv3]
523 Limitation to 8 multicast subscriptions on the same multicast address with different IP sources. if limit
is exceeded, unexpected "TS sync loss" alarms are raised.

EXT-1 [Monitoring]
481 PSU missing and Fan error alarms are raised 5 minutes after detection of the issue, this, in order to
avoid flickering and false transient alarms.

EXT-1 [MSS]
463 Incompatibility with old Smooth Streaming players using PlayReady DRM (PIFF 1.1) .

EXT-2 [Configuration]
79 It is possible to configure on a given NIC an untagged VLAN and tagged VLAN(s); but it does not

6. Version Compatibility

6.1. BIOS
Electra XT requires a specific BIOS version 1.01.0916DD5E on all the nodes of the system. 

Contact the support to check if your platform is compatible.

6.2. Modules and Chassis


v03.11.02 is compliant with the chassis/modules based on SkyLake processor.

• Chassis: ELC-XT-2U-2AC-G2 (chassis with AC Power Supplies) or ELC-XT-2U-2DC-G2 (chassis with DC


Power Supplies)
• Modules: ELX-XT-OPT-AVP-SKL

v03.11.02 is not compliant with the chassis/modules based on Haswell processor.

• Chassis: ELC-XT-2U-2AC (chassis with AC Power Supplies)


• Modules: ELX-XT-OPT-AVP-HSW

v03.11.02 is compliant with all the hardware switch version.

• New switches references : ELC-XT-OPT-GIGE-4-LEFT, ELC-XT-OPT-GIGE-4-RIGHT
These new switches references are compatible only with 02.70 and upper versions and shall not be 
installed on old version without Support intervention.
It is also not recommended to mix old and new references on the same platform. 
• Old switches reference : ELC-XT-OPT-GIGE-4.

Last version compliant with the chassis/modules based on Haswell processor is version 02.00.006.

6.3. JAVA
Electra XT requires JRE 7u51 or 8u45 to be installed on the target computer for using its supervision GUI. 

Compatibility with JRE v1.8 (u45) down to v1.7u51 was tested.

If you want to operate the product, you need to remain on JRE 8 and subscribe to Oracle offer to take benefit of
support

7. Software Upgrade

7.1. For Electra XT running versions 2.5x or 2.6x 

7.1.1. Important Notice 1


This release requires BIOS version 1.01.0916DD5E to be installed on all modules prior to upgrade.

Modules delivered few month ago could have an older BIOS version. 

Please contact customer support before upgrading the product to check BIOS version.

Any upgrade with an incorrect BIOS version can block the product.

7.1.2. Important Notice 2


Compared to version 2.5x or 2.6x, this release may affect density of Electra XT resulting in the ability to run less
transcoding jobs than with previous releases. 

Please ask for a simulation before upgrading a platform.

7.1.3. Important Notice 3


Once migrated to 2.70 version or higher, it is not possible to downgrade to 2.5x or 2.6x. 

7.2. Upgrade procedure


When upgrading from an old release (2.5x or 2.6x), this release is not installed according to standard upgrade
procedure.

Please contact support for the upgrade.

When upgrading from 2.7x.xx_LA_NO_COEF, please use 3.11.02_LA_NO_COEF, otherwise use 3.11.02_LA.

Following table indicates typical upgrade timings (Upgrade duration column).

It is not recommended to interrupt upgrade when started or to restart a node during upgrade process. 

Total upgrade can last 3h30 hours with a fully loaded chassis.
