on the procedure plate.

91.175 Takeoff and landing under IFR – (f)(2) (iii) For helicopters - 1/2 statute mile visibility. (OPSPECS

135.217 IFR: Takeoff limitations – You must have weather to land back at your departure airport or you
must have a take-off alternate within 1 hrs flight time at normal cruise. (Approach at departure airport)
135.219 At ETA at the next airport of intended landing, WX will be at, or above, authorized IFR landing

minimums. MTC Pilots will apply the Visibility requirement and have a ceiling at or above the MDA or

DA for the procedure they plan on flying.
135.223(b)(1), (2)&(3) – At ETA +/- 1 hour, the ceiling will be at least 1500’ above the lowest circling
approach MDA (If no circling is available, you can use a straight in approach). This ceiling can never be less
than 2000 ft above the surface of the airport (Airport Elev). Apply whichever is higher. Remember the

DA/MDA is expressed in MSL altitude. The HAT, HAA, HAS, or HAL is the same altitude expressed in AGL.

Alternate
Visibility must be 2 miles greater than the visibility required for the approach, but that visibility can never
be less than 3 miles.

135.221 At or above authorized alternate airport minimums for that airport at the estimated time of
arrival. Ceiling derived by adding 200 feet to the HAT or HAA and the minimum visibility required for the
Alternate WX approach to be flown but never less than 1 SM visibility

normal cruising speed.
135.611 Alternate required if no weather reporting, use CAT A or approach plate speed

“Proceed Visually” = the appropriate associated visibility and ceiling on the chart
AIM 10-1-2 Helicopters flying conventional (i.e. non-Copter) IAPs may reduce the visibility minima to not
less than one-half the published Category A landing visibility minima, or 1/4 statute mile
visibility/1200 RVR, whichever is greater, unless the procedure is annotated with “Visibility Reduction by
Helicopters NA."
