Secure By Default Communications

Backup Exec connections use only TLS 1.2 and support for TLS 1.0 and 1.1 is disabled

BE 15 FP1 and newer use the highest TLS version supported by both the Agent for Windows and the
BE Server, in most cases that is TLS v1.2

Upgrade checks for Agents for Windows older than BE 15 FP1, if none are in use TLS 1.0 and 1.1 are
disabled by default

User consent is required to continue to use an Agent for Windows older than BE 15 FP1 (if detected)

Backup Exec uses TLS 1.2 to communicate with SQL and when accessing the Backup Exec Database
(BEDB)

stored in backups from being restored and to
manage erasure (DLM)
