Olden times astrologers used to put Rahi, Navamsa, Tatkala graha sampathi and ashtakavarga (AV) also.

Tatkala graha sampathi: Each graha position in nakshatra and laga.

It is in Parashari system. The gemini is new system. Tajaka is also independent system.

Ashtaka means 8, Vargha means charts. 8 charts are erected in this school of chart.

These are related to each planets (7 planets) and one for lagna. Rahu and Ketu is ignored.

Sun ashatkavarga: means related to Sun. and also other planets with reference to sun.

Like this we have Moon AV, Mar AV etc.

Lagna AV because lagna is self. We are considering lagna as minuscule planet and in astrology we are
analysing effects of other planets over lagna.

The content is points (Bindhus) in AV. Quantity of bindhus vary from 1st house to 12 house for each
planet AV.

Max bidhu is 8 and min is 0.

Application of AV
• We analyze the strength of each planet.
• Based on strength we know what each planet will offer to native (bad or good benefits).
• The 12 bhavas strength and weakness can be analyzed. We know strength and weakness of each
person. Which is his weakest and strongest bhavas.
• Qualitative assessment based on quantitative numbers.
• Analyzing the transit results of planets. Gochara bala is based on position of natal moon and
transit of the other planets. But in AV they are taken independently from natal moon. Not
related to natal moon. Gochara bala is rough transit, because the results will be same for most
of them based on natal moon. Gochara bala is not that specific to a person. That’s why it is
crude method.
On the other hand, Ashtavarga chart we are taking planet transiting that rashi with how many
bindhus.
More number of bindhu is better results in transit.
Ex: Makara rashi people and Ju is in Janma rashi, the gochara bala is bad, but when we take AV
and if the same Makara rashi is with more bindhu for that particular native which will give better
results, so bad results will be reduced.
Transit results for major planets are very pronounced because they stay in rashi for longer time.
• AV over rules Grahamaitri koota. Matching of charts for marriage, If there is not Grahamaitri
koota (mental adjustment, because Moon (rashi)), the charts are rejected.
Ex: Boy is born in Simha rashi, and say girl in Kumbha rashi. The friendship between the lord of
Simha rashi Sun and lord of Kumba is Saturn and they are inimical, so will be rejected. Imagine if
this person is struggling from long time and rejecting because of this. Most astrologer would

reject due to lack of Grahamaitri koota. Does it mean all the person born in Simha and Kumbha
rashis will not marry each other? This is crude method.
On the other hand, AV over rules this rule.
• Predicting longevity. It is most accurate. We can point out in accuracy of 6 mon to 1yr when
person will expire with AV. If such situation arises better see ayurdhaya.
From native’s chart we can find when father or mother (family members) will expire.
• Timing of the marriage. Guru bala is nothing to do with marriage. Dasa Bhukti also will not give
accurate results. Say in Guru dasa, Shani bhukti will run 2.5 yrs, does that mean will not get
married for such long?
• Timing of the birth of the children. Ashataka varga supersedes other methods. However, we
need to know that these are predestined.
“Runanubhandha rupena pashu pathni sutha alaya” By our previous birth karmas, this life
relationships are created. Pashu means all the domestic animals we are having through runanu
bhandha only. Pathni, the wife also comes from last birth. Sutha means children also comes
from past life relationships. Alaya means the house, land that we own also comes from runanu
bhandha.
Similarly, the timing also destined. We learn in AV.
Note: Purchase of plot will not get in AV.
• Accidents will happen, not everyone for someone it happens. In AV system we can pinpoint if
this person is prone to accident. The intensity of accident of accident can also be analyzed.

The strength planets is determined by number bindhus received for the rashi where that planet is
located in the natal chart.

• 8 Bindhus= max 100% (7planets and 1 lagna)

• Less than 30% and 20% is no use, less strength.
• 1 & 0 is not good.
• If the planet is in own house increase number double (2 times), ex Sun in Simha and 4 bindhus,
increase to 8 bindhus , so 100% strength
• If the planet is in exaltation house increase number Trice (3 times). ex Sun in Mesha and 4
bindhus, increase to 4x3=12 bindhus , so more than 100% strength, still we take 100% only.
• Enemy and debilitation, don’t reduce remains same.

Results is based on the number of bindhus in that particular rashi.

• Rashi with 4 or more binshu: Ravi gives good results

• 3 or lesser binshu: Ravi gives bad results
• The results depends if the basic strength bindhus (the bindhus where is placed) is 4 or more.
If there is no basic strength if it transit in higher bindhu rashis will not get expected results.

Some examples

• In example: Makara, Mesha and Vrishabha gives bad results others give good results.
• Good results in rashis: Dhanu, Kumbha, Meena, Mithuna, Kataka, Simha, Kanya, Tula and

Lets say Boy in Simha rashi (Su) and Girl born in Kumbha (Sa), Still he can marry provided in his
own Mo ashtakavarga he has 4 or more bhindhus in Kumbha rashi. So we need to see Mo
ashatakavarga in girl rashi. However we need to see if girl can adjust to boy so see in girl’s Mo
ashtakavarga see if she has 4 or more bhindhus in Simha rashi. So we need to see Vice versa.

So, see Mo ashtakavarga if 4 or more for girl’s rashi in boy’s chart, vice versa, Boy’s rashi in girl’s
chart. More the bhindhu better mental compatibility.
Also one should marry a boy or girl of having a rashi in which he has got the highest bhindus.

In this ex chart. This person should marry with Mesha, Mithuna, Kanya rashi. Second option is

Application of Shodya pinda of Guru

There will be a birth of children when Ju transits the asterism represented by the remainder by
obtained by dividing the product of Ju shodya pinda and no of bindhus in the 5th from Ju by 27.

Before reduction is 4 (5th from Ju).

436/27= remainder is 4.
4th NS from Aswini is Rohini
When Jupiter transits Rohini, or its Trinal NS Hastha or Shravana there can be birth of children. This
happens once in 5yrs.

An issue will be born when Ju transits the asterism represented by remainder by obtaining by dividing
the product of shodya pinda by 7. If Ju is strong in navamsa than in rashi then count the remainder
from dhanishta not Aswini.

763/27= remainder is 7.
7th NS from Aswini is Punarvasu.
7th NS from Dhanista is Bharani
In this chart Ju is Mercury’s rashi not that strong, but in Navamsa it will go to Meena in his own house. If
Ju is strong in Rashi then count from Aswini which is Punarvasu. But here Ju is strong in Navamsa so take
from Dhanista which is Bharani (7th NS). Also its trinals Purvaphalguni (Pubba) and Purvashada.

The number of children can be ascertained by looking into the benefic bindhus posted from 5th from
the position of Jupiter. It is also said that no of children will be equivalent to the no of navamsa gained
by Jupiter.

5th from Jupiter in chart is 4 bindhus. Native will have 4 children. But according to present trend we can
say 2 children or max 4.
Jupiter is Kanya rashi and move to Meena in navamsa. So from Kanya to Meena is 7 rashis moved. So
can have 7 children.

Application of Shodya pinda of Shukra

Multiply the shodya pinda of Venus by the no of the bindhus in the 7th from Ve in his own
Ashtakavarga. Divide the product by 27. When Ju transits the asterism represented by the remainder,
marriage is likely.

When the asterism is transited by Saturn as per the statement made above: ill health, misfortune or
even the death of the husband may take place. (Male chart for its wife, and vice versa) Same NS as
above but bad things happen if Sa transits.

Application of Shodya pinda of Shani

The remainder arrived by dividing the product of Saturn shodya pinda and bindhus in the sign
occupied by Jupiter (in Saturn ashtakavarga) by 12. The remainder represents the rashi. The transit of
which by Saturn may prove fatal to native.

In the ex chart. Ju is Kanya, and bindu is 3 and need to multiply by shodya pinda of Sa. And the product
to be divided by 12. The remainder is the rashi from Aries. When Sa transits this rashi or its trinal rashis
then native can die or suffer from death like situations or other problems like children, enemies etc.

Total the number of bindhus in Sa ashtakavarga before reduction from Lagna to the sign occupied by
Saturn. Total also the bindhus from Saturn till Lagan. These 2 numbers will indicate the age when
person is likely to suffer from disease or misfortune. The total of above 2 figures also indicates the age
of troubles.

Ex chart: Lagna is Vrishabha and Saturn in Kataka.

So Lagna to Kataka is 3+4+7=14

And Kataka to lagna is 7+4+3+2+3+2+3+4+3+1+3= 35

At the age of 14 and 35 the native is likely to suffer.

Also 14+35= 49 (this for all as the total remains same for all)

At the age of 49 also there will be troubles.

TO BE NOTED: In some books graha gunakara is taken for all grahas, this is not correct. There is no -ve
results for graha gunakara. After research we need to this way for particular planet only.

For lagna we do but there is no analysis. Not useful.
