Statistical Graphs

The document discusses different types of statistical graphs used to present data including bar graphs, line graphs, circle graphs and how to construct each type of graph. It provides steps for making each graph, including writing a title, labeling axes, ensuring proportionality of data visualization, and examples of each type of graph with labeled components.

graphs
Presented by: Mikhaela Rose B. Caco, LPT
Presentation in different
manners

Textual
Data are presented in paragraph in paragraph
presentation form in which significant figures (average,
total percentage, etc. are narrated)

Data are presented in tables to show the

Tabular
presentation relationship between the column and row
quantities

Data are presented un visual form. It is a

Graphical
picture that displays in numerical

information.
Bar Graph
● Used to show relative sizes of data.
● bars drawn proportional to the data,
may be horizontal or vertical.
● Used to show comparison of nominal
data (nationality, gender, religion,
month, etc.) and numerical data
(discrete or continuous, such as
population and other frequency
information)
HOW TO MAKE BAR
GRAPHS?
1. Write the appropriate title for the graph indicating important information.
2. Label both axes. For double or multiple bar graphs, use legend to identify the
bars. The zero point should be clearly indicated.
3. Bars must be proportional to the quantities they are representing. The width of
the bars must be equal.
4. There must be uniform space between bars.
5. If necessary, highlight sources and footnotes.

Line Graph

● Shows the relationship between two or

more sets of continuous data.
● May show the relationship between a
population and time, or liquid capacity
and distance.
HOW TO MAKE Line
GRAPHS?
1. State clearly the title of the graph indicating the important information about the data.
2. Label both axes. For a multiple line graph, a legend will facilitate understanding of the
information the graphs want to convey. Zero point should be clearly indicated.
3. Connect the plotted points from left to right.
4. Sources and footnotes should be provided if necessary.
5. For multiple line graphs, you can use different colors to distinguished from one another.

Circle Graph

● Used to compare parts of a whole.

● The size of each sector of the circle is
proportional to the size of the category
it represents.
HOW TO MAKE circle
GRAPHS?
1. Organize the data on the table by providing columns to:
a) The fractional parts or percent of each quantity is of the whole
b) The number of degrees representing each fractional part (by multiplying 360º)
2. On a circle, construct successive central angles using number of degrees representing
each part.
3. Label each part and write an appropriate title for the graph

1. Organize the data on the table by providing Item Amount Fractional Number of
columns to: Part Degrees
(divide each part by (Fractional part
total, times 100%) times 360º)
a. The fractional parts or percent of each quantity
10 000 ÷ 20 000
is of the whole Food ₱ 10 000 = 0.5 x 100%
50% x 360°

Bills ₱ 2 000 = 0.1 x 100%

2. On a circle, construct successive central angles 2 000 ÷ 20 000
Transportation ₱ 3 000 = 0.15 x 100%
15% x 360°
using number of degrees representing each part. = 15 % = 54°
