Lab 1 (5%)

COMP 1073 – Client-Side JavaScript


Instructor: Maninder Kaur Tatla

Note:
1. Lab must be completed as an individual effort.
2. This lab is of 5%.
3. Due date for submission is specified on Blackboard.
4. All online submissions will be done via Blackboard (Email submissions will NOT be accepted).
5. Late exercises/assignments will be penalized.

Instructions:
1. Go to https://www.codecademy.com/ and set up a free account by clicking on “Sign Up”.
a. Follow the steps under Account Registration at the end of this document.
2. Once you have registered, log in to your account.
3. Go to this link & click on START:
https://www.codecademy.com/learn/introduction-to-javascript

4. Start the lesson and follow the instructions to complete the activity.
5. On the top left, click on the Syllabus. Further go to chapter Variables and complete all the lessons in
it, from Variables to Review Variables.

6. Once you have successfully completed the activity, click on “Save & Submit Code”.
7. When a window pops up asking “Are you sure you want to submit your work?” click “Confirm”.
8. You should then see a page with a “Completion Certificate”.

Submission:
1. Go to the website https://www.codecademy.com/learn/ and log in to your account.
2. In the top right corner of the page, click on your profile name.
3. On the profile page, you should see your course progress, a list of all earned badges, and your picture.
4. Print the page.
a. On the Print dialog box, select printer as “Save as PDF” and save the webpage as PDF.
b. Save the PDF as L1YourFirstnameLastname.
5. Upload the PDF doc to “Lab 1” under Assignments module.

Account Registration:
• Go to the website https://www.codecademy.com/learn/.
• Click on “Sign Up” in the top right corner of the page.
• Enter your email address in the provided field and choose a password or sign up using your Google
account.
• Click “Create Account” at the bottom to complete the registration process.
• Check your email for a verification message. Follow the link provided in the email to verify your
account.
• You have now successfully created an account with Codecademy.
