SUBJECT : Preparation for Super Typhoon MAWAR

DATE : May 26, 2023

1. Reference: Memorandum from OIC, DPCR/Vice Chairperson SCND dated May


25, 2023 with same subject as above.

2. This pertains to the active tropical cyclone outside the Philippine Area of
Responsibility (PAR), classified as Super Typhoon with the international name “Mawar” at
2,215 KM East of Visayas with Maximum sustained winds of 185 KM/H near the center and
gustiness of up to 230 KP/H, moving northwestward slowly. Once inside the PAR on Friday
or Saturday, May 26 or 27, 2023, Super Typhoon “MAWAR” will be given the local name
“Betty”.

3. In this regard, please be advised to undertake the Pre-Disaster Stage activities in


your IMPLAN to CIMOP in your respective AOR but not limited to the following:

a. Coordinate and collaborate with local DRRMOs;

b. Remind all SRR Teams 1st responders to secure/evacuate their family to a safe area
before the super typhoon strikes in respective AOR;

c. Strengthen resilience of emergency telecommunications, ensure availability and


serviceability of your respective satellite phones and generator set, and bring
down antennas to prevent damage during the landfall of a super typhoon;

d. Ensure readiness of the SRR Teams, equipment, and supplies to support


operational requirements (e.g. Rubber boat, utility rope, floating device, multi-tool
items, 30L of FOL for generator, flashlights with an extra battery, communication
equipment, first aid kit, Meals Ready to Eat, etc);

e. Plan the deployment and pre-positioning of Search and Rescue (SAR) assets, if
necessary;

f. Activation of respective PROs Disaster Incident Management Task Group


(DIMTG) 24 Hrs. before landfall or as the situation may require;

g. Affected PPOs/CPO and WCPD shall provide security and assistance in the
evacuation areas for affected residents in coordination with LGU and other
concerned agencies; and

h. Coordinate with LGU to issue advisories in preventing fishing boats and small
seacrafts to sail.
