CLASSIFYING DIFFERENT KINDS OF ANGLES
I. OBJECTIVES:
A. CONTENT STANDARDS
- The students demonstrate an understanding of classifying and measuring different
kinds of angles.
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- The students are able to define and illustrate the different kinds of angles: acute, right,
and obtuse angles.
C. LEARNING COMPETENCIES/STANDARDS
- The students are able to identify the different kinds of angles, and;
- Are able to measure an angle using a protractor.

III. PROCEDURES
A. REVIEW
Instruction: Draw and Label the Following
1. Ray BA
2. Ray BC
3. BA and ⃗
⃗ BC are opposite rays
B. PURPOSE OF THE LESSON
- The Purpose of today’s lesson is to identify and measure the different kinds of angles.
C. DISCUSSING NEW CONCEPTS & PRACTICING NEW SKILLS
1. ANGLE
- a figure which is formed by two rays or lines that shares a common endpoint.
- The two rays are called the sides of an angle, and the common endpoint is called the
vertex.
EX:
- An angle is a figure formed by two non-collinear rays with a common endpoint,
called VERTEX.
EX2:
BA and ⃗
Sides: ⃗ BC
Vertex B
The Terms we need to know:
DEGREES (° ) - The unit used in measuring an angle. Example: 78°
PROTRACTOR - The device used in measuring an angle.
∠ - a symbol of an angle
2. NAMING AN ANGLE
Using 3 points:
∠ ABC or ∠ CBA
Using its vertex:
Vertex B
Using the Number or letter: ∠1
Example 2:
Using 3 points:
∠ ZXY or ∠ YXZ
∠ ZXW or ∠ WXZ
∠ WXY or ∠YXW
Using vertex: Vertex X
Using the number or letter: ∠ 1∧∠ 2
3. KINDS OF ANGLE
STRAIGHT ANGLE
Exactly 180°
D. DEVELOPING MASTERY
LET’S TRY!
Instruction: See the Figure below and name the following.
1. Using 3 points:
2. Using Vertex:
3. Using the number or letter:
E. FINDING PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS OF CONCEPTS AND SKILLS IN
DAILY LIVING
Reflect on this:
“WHEN WE WORK TOGETHER, WE CAN COVER A LOT OF GROUND FROM
MULTIPLE ANGLES.”
F. GENERALIZATION
QUESTION AND ANSWER:
1. What is an angle?
2. What angle has a measurement of exactly 90° ?
3. What angle has a measurement of greater than 0° but less than 90° ?
4. What angle has a measurement of greater than 90° but less than 180° ?
5. What do we call the common endpoint of two rays?
G. EVALUATING LEARNING
LET’S DO MORE: ACROBATIC ANGLES (GROUP ACTIVITY)
INSTRUCTION: The Geo Gymnastic competition is well underway! There are 4 Gymnastics
on the game. Group yourselves into 4 and judge their body angles. Study the picture on your
group and name the correct angle in the space provided.
GROUP 1 GROUP 2 GROUP 3 GROUP 4
FIND: FIND: FIND: FIND:
1. ∠ ADC H.1. ∠ ABD 1. ∠ DBC 1. ∠ ABC
2. ∠ ADE 2. ∠ FCA 2. ∠ FEB 2. ∠ DBA
3. ∠ CDE 3. ∠ ACG 3. ∠ CBE 3. ∠ ABE
4. ∠ BFG 4. ∠ DBE 4. ∠ ABE 4. ∠ BCG
