INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Course Description:
This course is designed to be an introduction to the concepts of information systems. Topic covered
include: History of computer, types of computer, the different number systems and specifically the logical
presentation of computer programming through the use of flowcharts. This course also provides a practical
hands-on approach to developing the skills of students through powerful word processing and spreadsheet
application as well as presentation for windows and internet issues.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the student should be able to:

2. Identify the components upon using internet
3. Understand the process involved in transmitting data from a sender to a receiver.

• The domain name server returns the IP address for the Web server that hosts the Website (for
example, 68.178.157.178).
o When a new domain is registered together with a TCP/ IP address, DNS servers all over the
world are updated with this information
• The browser uses the IP address specified by the domain name server and requests the page from
the Web server.
• The Web server hence returns the page to the IP address specified by the Web browser requesting
the page.

• The Web browser collects and consolidates all the information and displays to your computer in the
form of Web page.
• In the figure below, it illustrates the process of how the internet works when we use it.
• Some are thinking that internet is wireless. Actually, internet is wire connection to transfer informations
electronically.
• Routers makes the connection wireless.
• Information’s are chopped into small pieces of data called packets upon transmitting.
• And when it reaches its destination, packets will be assembled and make the file in its complete formation.
