Abstract
Introduction. Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 (T2DM) has high risk probability to cardiovascular
risk. Optimal lipid profile control is an effort to prevent cardiovascular risk. In Indonesia,
Program Pengelolaan Penyakit Kronis (Prolanis) is a way to prevent lipid disorders.
Objective. Are there any differences in lipid profiles between patients who attend Prolanis
and those who did not?
Methods. Study design was observational cross sectional. To compare the lipid profiles of
T2DM patients whose attend Prolanis and not attend. T-test independent and Mann Whitney
test was use to compare the median and mean scores.
Results. From 75 total samples, 52 were women (69.3%) and 23 men (30.7%). A 39 samples
did not attend Prolanis (52%) and 36 samples attend Prolanis (48%). The mean age, duration
T2DM, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, TG, non-HDL and HbA1c were 59.03 8.90 years,
78.88 56.37 months, 195.80 42.66 mg/dL, 44.76 10.19 mg/dL, 127.21 40.70 mg/dL,
145.97 73.04 mg/dL, 151.04 42.27 mg/dL, 8.49 2.07 %, respectively. There were
difference in duration of T2DM, HDL, TG between Prolanis and non-Prolanis [64.50 (41.00-
74.00) vs 55.12 (41.00-74.00) , p= 0.023; 45.00 (32.00-65.00) vs 39.00 (29.00-66.00),
p=0.045; 106.00 (68.00-352.00) vs 144.00 (49.00-353.00), p=0.006].
Conclusion. Patients in the Prolanis group had significantly longer duration of T2DM and
higher levels of HDL cholesterol, also lower triglycerides compared to non-Prolanis group.
