Information On A Job Card
Could Be As Follows:

 Technician doing the job

 Description of the work done
 Time the vehicle entered the workshop
 Time taken to perform the job
 Person responsible for final inspection
 Material used to do the job

Unit2: Preparing wheel

balancing machine

2
Inspection Of Equipment

 Clean the machine

 Check working conditions of equipment, also inspect the
following items:
 Protective Cover,
 Floor mountings,
 Electrical connections,
 monitor screen,
 Storage compartment

Select Appropriate Tools

 Rim width caliper to

measure the rim sizes

3
Wheel Weight Remover and
Hammer Locking Devices

Loading Information Into The

Computer Storage System

 The actual wheel size: side of the tyre

 The diameter of the wheel: side of the tyre
 Type of tyre: cross-ply or radial ply
 Width of tyre
 Other important info

Unit 3: Balance the wheel

Inspect Rims And Tyres For

Damages And Wear:

 Visual Inspection of rims and tyres

 Condition of thread
 Tyre size as per manufacture
 Remove any dirt/mud from rims
 Remove old weights from the rim
 Check the tyre run out, lateral and radial
 Check rims for dents, and run out lateral and radial.

5
Performing Dynamic Balancing
Of The Wheel:

 Equal weight on both

sides of the tyre
 Dynamic imbalance
unequal weight on the
tyre
 There will be side-to-
side movement on the
tyre
 Balance weight must be
added to the tyre to
remove side-to-side
movement

Perform Static Balancing Of The

Wheel

 Static imbalance
occurs when there is
a heavy spot on the
tyre wall.
 Tyre will roll
unevenly(up-and-
down movement
 Weight should be
place opposite the
heavy spot

Proceed With The Balancing Of
A Wheel

 Close the safety cover over the wheel

 Speed up the rotation of the wheel
 The machine will identify the condition of imbalance of
the wheel
 Machine will indicate where weights must be placed
 Using the proper tool, place and secure the weight on
the rim
 Rotate the wheel again and check if further weights are
needed
 Switch off machine
