PROCEDURES
A. Introduction What I need to know?
After going through with this lesson, you are expected to solve routine or non-routine
problems involving multiplication with or without addition or subtraction of fractions and whole
numbers using appropriate problem-solving strategies and tools.
Also, you will learn to show that multiplying a fraction by its reciprocal is equal to 1. You will
also learn the importance of reciprocal of a number, how it will give you an easier way to do the
multiplication of fractions and also the division of fractions.

What’s new?
Learning Task 1: Read and solve each simple problem. Then write your answer on your notebook.
(See CLMD4A Math 5, page 29)
What I know?
Directions: Choose the letter of the correct answer. Write your answers in your activity
notebook.
B. Development

What is in?
Directions: Find the product of each of the following mentally. Choose the letter
of the correct answer and write your answer in your activity notebook.
What is it?
How do we get the reciprocal of a fraction?
To get the reciprocal of a fraction, just flip it upside down or get the inverse of the fraction.
The reciprocal of a fraction is also called its multiplicative inverse. Below will give you an idea
how it is done. Carefully read the given problem or situation.
Situation:
Every time my mother went to market, she always bought a pasalubong for us, most of the
times a circular pan of buko pie. She will divide it into 8 equal slices. What do you call each slice?
C. Engagement What’s more?
A. Learning Task 3. Choose only 1 from item 1-3 on page 31 of CLMD4A Module

B. Directions: Find the value of n in each of the following number sentences. Write your answers
in your activity notebook.

What I can do?
