Math DLP

This document contains a detailed lesson plan for a 7th grade math class on basic statistics. The lesson plan outlines the objectives, materials, procedures, activities, and evaluation for the class. The lesson will teach students about measures of central tendency, including mean, median, and mode. Students will practice calculating these measures by working through examples of data sets and taking a quiz. The goal is for students to understand and be able to apply the key concepts of basic statistics.

TEACHER’s ACTIVITY STUDENT’s ACTIVITY

2. Preliminary activities
a. Prayer/ greetings
Everybody please stand up, let us pray. Everybody will stand up.

Good afternoon Sir.

Good Morning class.

None Sir
b. Checking of attendance
who’s absent today?

That’s great.

2. LESSON PROPER
a. Review
Okay class let us first review the previous lesson, who
among you still remember our last topic?

Yes, (name of the student who is called)?

Our previous lesson was about angles Sir.
Very good, give me an example of angles

Yes, (name of the student who is called)?

Acute angle Sir
Very good, okay thank you. It feels great that you still
remember our previous lesson.

b. Motivation
Group the students into 2 groups. Each group will be given a
strips of ramble letters, the teacher will show a picture which
indicate to the word (STATISTICS). Let the students arrange
the letters and forms it into word.
c. Presentation
By looking at this picture, it is?
Yes, (name of the student who is called)?
A statistics Sir
Very good.

With the help of the pictures, what do you think is our topic
today?

Yes, (name of the student who is called)? Our topic is all about statistics

Very good!!

D. Discussion
Okay, our lesson today is about statistics. Before we could
discuss it, who have his/ her idea about Statistics?

(The teacher will call students to answer the question.)

Yes, (name of the student who is called)?

It is more about solving Sir
Very good, (name of the student)

Who had another idea?

Yes, (name of the student who is called)?

It is about mean, median and mode Sir
Very good (name of the student). Okay thank you

Basics of Statistics include the measure of central

tendency and the measure of dispersion. The central tendencies
are mean, median and mode

What is Mean?
Mean is the most commonly used measure of central tendency. It
actually represents the average of the given collection of data. It is
applicable for both continuous and discrete data.

Here,
∑ represents the summation
X represents observations
N represents the number of observations.
Median
The value of the middlemost observation, obtained after
arranging the data in ascending or descending order, is called the
median of the data.

n+1 th
Median=( ) observation
2

Mode
The value which appears most often in the given data i.e. the
observation with the highest frequency is called a mode of data.
The mode is the number that is repeated more often than any
other.

Examples
1: Find the mean, median, mode for the following list of
values:

13, 18, 13, 14, 13, 16, 14, 21, 13

Solution:

Given data: 13, 18, 13, 14, 13, 16, 14, 21, 13

The mean is the usual average.

Mean = {13 + 18 + 13 + 14 + 13 + 16 + 14 + 21 + 13} / {9}

= 15

(Note that the mean is not a value from the original list.
This is a common result. You should not assume that your
mean will be one of your original numbers.)

The median is the middle value, so to rewrite the list in

ascending order as given below:

13, 13, 13, 13, 14, 14, 16, 18, 21

There are nine numbers in the list, so the middle one will be

{9 + 1} / {2} = {10} / {2} = 50

= 5th number

Hence, the median is 14.

The mode is the number that is repeated more often than

any other, so 13 is the mode. None Sir

So do you have any question or clarification?

E Application/Activity

The teacher will going to give another example of

data which the two groups will submit their answers. Still
the same group as recently.

INSTRUCTION: Find the mean, median and mode in this

data: 97,98,97,92,90,90,90,90,91
Mean: 97+98+97+92+90+90+90+90+91
9
= 92.78
Median: 90,90,90,90,91,92,97,97,98
= 91
Mode: 90

F. Generalization

This time let us sum up all the things we have discussed

today. The teacher will ask the students by the following
questions below:
 What are the 3 basic statistical formula for central
tendency?
 Why is it important to measure the data?

G. EVALUATION/ ASSESSMENT

Okay, since everyone understand it, let us have a quiz.

Get ¼ sheet of paper.
IDENTIFICATION: calculate the given data by using the
statistical formula. (Get the MEAN, MEDIAN and
MODE)
1. Ana was so happy because she got a high grades.
Ana’s grades: 97,99,92,98,96,90,94,90,90

H. Assignment
For your assignment, kindly search this website and read
it in advance.

Do you understand? Yes Sir

Do you have any question or clarification? None Sir

Okay, class dismiss. Good bye class! Good bye Sir.
