“First Mover Can Gain Costumer loyalty easily”

A. Overview of First Mover

As previously explained, first movers are products or
services that gain a competitive advantage by being the first to
market the product or service.
Reporting from Investopedia, companies that succeed in
becoming first movers will be able to build strong brand
recognition and customer loyalty before competitors emerge.
As a pioneer in the industry, first movers will encourage the
emergence of many new companies with concepts that are not
much different.
For example, when Gojek first appeared in Indonesia.
After stealing the public's attention, not long after that, various
applications with a similar concept emerged.
These companies' competitors emerged hoping to
achieve similar success to first mover companies.
Generally, however, first movers have established
efficient market shares and a strong enough customer base to
sustain a large share of the market.

B. Advantages of a First Mover Company

1. Have strong brand recognition
Of course, the first advantage of a company that is a first
mover is the convenience of having strong brand recognition.
Not only generates strong loyalty among existing customers,
but also attracts new customers to the company's products,
even after competitors enter the market. Brand recognition
also positions companies to diversify their offerings and
services.
2. Ease of controlling resources and technology
Reporting from the Corporate Finance Institute, the ease of
controlling resources and technology is one of the advantages
obtained by first mover companies. For example, if a first
mover firm can reduce the cost of producing a product, it can
establish an absolute cost advantage. In addition, the company
can apply for patents to protect the developed resources and
technology.
3. Buyer switching costs
The third benefit that first movers can enjoy is buyer switching
costs. If as a pioneer a company is able to build a strong brand,
consumers will feel comfortable and find it difficult to switch
to a new brand in the future.
