Transpo Reflection

The document is a reflection paper from a student about a technical railway tour they took as part of a transportation engineering class. The tour involved taking multiple rail lines (MRT, LRT, PNR) between different stations to experience commuting via public transportation in the Philippines. The student describes the various routes and stations they traveled through. They reflect that the tour showed them how tiring it is to commute using railways due to factors like long walks between stations and slow travel. They also note issues like overcrowding on some lines during rush hour. The student concludes that while security policies on the rail lines were effective, there are still significant improvements needed for the railway system.

Our meeting place was in Central Avenue, and we took a jeepney to MRT QUEZON
AVENUE Station. Then we arrived at MRT MAGALLANES Station because we supposed to
take the PNR EDSA Station, but it was closed due to technical problem, and they suggest
going to the PNR DELA ROSA Station because it was the nearest station from there, so we
took a bus to that station. We took the train then arrived in PNR BLUEMENTRITT Station
and we walked to LRT 1 BLUEMENTRITT Station. Then we took the train from there to the
LRT 1 ROOSEVELT Station. We took a break and ate at the nearby mall then we walked to
the EDSA CAROUSEL Station. We took the bus to arrive at the MRT NORTH AVENUE
Station. We took the train and arrived at MRT ARANETA-CUBAO Station, and we walked to
the LRT 2 CUBAO Station. We took the train to arrive at our target destination which is LRT
2 PUREZA Station. We took the tricycle to arrive at PNR STA. MESA Station. Then, we took
the train and arrived at PNR DELA ROSA Station, which is our last destination, but it was
supposed to be at PNR EDSA Station, but it was closed.

This tour made me realize how tiring is to commute using Railways in the Philippines.
Some stations are too high that we needed to walk many stairs just to reach the platform.
Also, the PNR was slow, and the stations are outdated. The LRT 1 experience was a disaster
because we took it in rush hour, and it was packed, and the air conditioning system were
not functioning inside the train. The most comfortable railway from the tour was the MRT
because we went to the all-girls section, and it was not packed, and it was secured.

There is a lot more improvement that our Railway system needed but the security
policies were effective that results to peaceful commuting.
