Project Proposal

This document provides a template for a project proposal for an Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology. The proposal should include a rationale, project concept, and evaluation section. The rationale section reflects on the student's progress and influences their project choice. The project concept describes the student's app idea to create a dog walking service called "Woof Walk." It explains how the app would work and its potential benefits. The evaluation section outlines how the student will document their decision making and reflect on their work throughout the project.

Your sources of research should be as wide

should be continuously updated as the
project progresses.

Project Title
Woof Walk

Section 1: Rationale
(approx. 150 words) I decided to go with this idea as there are a lot of dogs that don't get walked
every day, whether that's because their owner physically cannot walk them or
they are just too busy to do it. With my app, Woof Walk, this will not be a
problem anymore. I will design my app in Adobe Illustrator, and then once it's
done, I will make it into a functional app using the online Marvel app. The way
my app will work will be similar to apps such as Uber Eats or Just Eat, where
the walker will be able to look for dogs in their local area. As for dog owners,
you will also be able to register your dog on the app and, at the press of a
button, look for a walk. Once you do so, your dog will appear for the walkers in
the area, and then all they have to do is accept the walk.

Section 2: Project
Concept My idea for this project is to make a service which allows people to hire people
(approx. 200 words) to walk their dogs this will be done through a mobile app. I fill in the UK this is
definitely a gap in the market as I'm not sure there is anything like here I know
in America they have something like this called "Wag!" this service would be
able to help people that might not be able to take their dogs for a walk every
day and it would also allow people to earn money doing something they love.
My app would work similar to apps such as Just Eat, Uber, or Uber Eats. Once
you enter your address it will give you dogs in the surrounding area that are in
need of a walk. For pet owners they will be able to register their dog on the app
and give a little bit of information about the dog for example they could add
something like this "Hi my name is Alfie, I am a border collie and get nervous
around other dogs" my app would also have a feature where you can plan the
route for the walk there will also be a way you can track your dog and dog
walker. I feel if this app idea is done successfully it has real potential and I
would generally say this is an idea that could make a lot of money and a lot of
dogs happy.

Section 3: Evaluation
(approx. 150 words) I'm now coming towards the end of my final major project. Overall it has been
quite fun working on Woof Walk the last couple of weeks and it's really
reminded me how fun it is to make an app from scratch. Due to me not being in
college due to my mental health has been tough at parts but I've made it
through with a product that I think is good, most of my research on this final
major project has been from YouTube or just reading the articles that I found
online. I also came across quite a few problems whilst doing this project but
with most of them just a Google search really helped me to solve these issues.
Most of the big decisions I made on this project have all been evidenced on my
Weebly. I have also tried to explain everything that I have done on there as
well. Overall I have learnt a lot more about building a successful mobile app
and I have definitely gained a lot more experience with building a mobile app
and just designing in general. With me being at home for majority of this project
I have done a lot of this work independently and I would definitely say this has
helped me develop that skill as well.
