Dungeons & Dragons Adventure System
A Castle Ravenloft Campaign
Setup
Use the Castle Ravenloft board game set. Place the start tile on the table. Put the Icon of Ravenloft
and the Gravestorm´s Phylactery tokens aside, and make a draw pile of the rest of the Item tokens
beside the Treasure deck. Also have the Adventure treasure cards and coffin tokens ready. Make a
draw pile of all the dungeon tiles. Play the game with one healing surge.
Special campaign Rules
PLAYER TURN. The Exploration phase is part of the Hero phase. Hence heroes may move
and attack after having placed a new tile. You may start a move action on one tile and finish
it on a newly laid tile. You may place more than one tile during a turn, and if this happens
the last tile placed decides if an encounter card will be drawn or not. To see how many
monsters there are on a newly laid tile, roll d20:
1-9 0 monsters
10-15 1 monster
16-19 2 monsters
20 3 monsters
EXPERIENCE POINTS. Excess points from cards used when leveling up or canceling
encounter cards are not lost. Write them down for later use. villains give experience equal to
their level. You may level up beyond level 2 For every level beyond 2, gain one Power card.
THE TREASURE DECK. If you do not like or want a treasure when you draw it from this
deck, you may immediately dicard it to draw an Item token instead from the draw pile. The
Treasure item means you may draw three treasure cards (but these may not be discarded for
tokens). Remove the Treasure token from the game afterwards. If you draw an Item token
with a corresponding Treasure or Adventure Treasure card, remove the token from the game
and take the card instead. You may also draw an Item token when you defeat a villain. Items
that has not been used in your turn, may always be given to an adjacent hero during the hero
phase as an action.
LEAVING THE DUNGEON. You may leave the Dungeon through the start tile or the Secret
Stairway tile if it is revealed. Move each hero to the stairs normally and then remove their
figure from the board. When the entire party has done this, they are considered to have left
the dungeon. Write down villains revealed in the dungeon, and if they where defeated or not.
Also write down experience from defeated monsters you have, and discard these monster
cards. Take note of hero power cards, level, items and item tokens. Remove all monsters and
villains from the dungeon. villains are fully healed. You may want to take a picture of the
dungeon to put it up the same way, if you want to continue the campaign an other day.
RE-ENTERING THE DUNGEON. Make a drawpile of all monster tokens plus tokens for
the revealed undefeated villains (se exception for Strahd further down). Place a token on
each bone pile in the dungeon randomly, face down. Do not place monster tokens on the
entrance tile (start or secret stairway), or tiles adjacent to it. If there are not enough tokens

for all the bone piles, place the tokens as far from the entrance as possible. If a hero moves
on a tile with a monster token or an edge adjacent to it, reveal the token and any
monsters/villains are placed. Revealing a monster token is regarded as placing the Dungeon
tile it lays on for the purpose of drawing encounters from the Encounter deck.
When re-entering the dungeon, your heroes are fully healed, all powers and are replenished
and you keep any items you have ganed before. The heling surge is also replenished. You
may also enter the dungeon with new or fewer heroes.
