This document outlines a research proposal that aims to investigate the adhesive power of pomelo peel as a craft glue or paste. Specifically, the study seeks to determine whether pomelo peel is effective in making craft glue or paste, and to compare the effectivity of white and green pomelo peels on paper. The objectives, scope, and conceptual framework of the study are presented. If shown to be effective, a glue made from pomelo peel could provide a non-toxic alternative to commercial glues.

Duration of the Study:

Background of the Study:

The Philippines consist of various beliefs, practices, culture and tradition. And

most of us Filipinos believe in any mythical creatures. We are also fond of

festivals. Our country is really rich in minerals and most of us consider it as our

occupation in daily life. The Philippines also have a lot of natural resources that

most of us get from our daily occupation here. With these natural resources

Philippines become globally producing high quality materials. According to

Balakrishanan (2015), the crop production here in the Philippines includes lowland

irrigated farming, and upland farming, most of the said areas they mainly grow rice

and sugarcane whereas rain fed areas are planted with coconut, corn and cassava.

Other places are also rich in fruits just like, banana, mango, durian and pomelo.

We usually eat fruits when afternoon or sometimes when we’re with our

friends. Filipinos love to eat fruits as dessert or sometimes a mixture of salt and

vinegar. Filipinos love sour flavor or asim that every fruits they mix it with

vinegar. It became filipino’s tradition to eat this specially if the fruit is seasonal.

(Mirinda, 2017). (Anza, 2020) stated that, filipinos have the tradition of collecting

different fruits that is round or circle. They collect it before the New year’s eve

Tradition. The practice believe to attract good luck for this year. You can see

watermelon, grapes, rockmelon and the all time favorite, the pomelo.

The “Citrus grandis Osbeck” or commonly known as pomelo is the largest

citrus fruit. Pomelo is a close relative to grapefruit. A pomelo flesh can be

identified as green or yellow, while other varieties of this can be pale pink. The

pomelo can get very large as the rockmelon or sometimes it can get bigger. It is a

teardrop shape and slightly sweeter. These fruits are either a round or oval in

shape. A pomelo can be a seedless or sometimes none at all. Pomelo are often

served as desserts or sometimes a mixture of salt and vinegar. They are less juicy
but then it depends on the variety of the Pomelo. The best time to see a Pomelo is

between the months of November to March. ()

A lot of people waste the peel of tomato. They think these peels are no longer

useful or just junk that needs to be cleaned again. With this study we will be able

to identify how useful pomelo peel to us. And we can also help to reduce the junks

of this in our environment.

Glue is the chief topic in this investigatory project. Glue or paste is widely

used worldwide. From schools to offices, from homes to buildings, glue or paste is

always present to help individuals in their daily lives. This material can be used in

simple works or as an emergency utensil; from torn books to stripped parts of

paper works; this tool is very significant in our lives.

Glue or paste is a sticky material (usually liquid) that can stick two or more

things together. Glue can be made from plant or animal parts, or it can be made

from oil-biased chemicals. The first glues may have been natural liquids that come

out of trees when they are cut. Later people learned to make glue by boiling animal

feet, cartilage, or bones. Some very strong glue is made from fish bones, rubber or

milk. Simple glue can be made at home by mixing wheat flour and water. This glue

will stick pieces of paper together. Many kinds of art can be made using glue or

paste. A collage is a work of art made by using glue or paste to stick things onto
paper. Some glue can be used to keep water out of boats, buildings or vehicles. In

this case the glue may be called caulk. Some man made materials, including wood-

like materials, are made using glues to bind together small pieces of material or

powders. (Fatima, 2014)

These qualities of our project, the adhesive power of pomelo peel as craft

glue or paste, really come in handy to our fellows with problems about toxics in

their homes. This project isn’t only helpful to us, but is also easy to organize in

times of financial crisis and emergencies to come.

Objectives of the Study

This study aims to investigate which is more effective: the Commercial ones or this

Craft glue or paste made of the adhesive power of pomelo peel?

Specifically, it seeks to answer the following questions:

1. Is pomelo peel effective in making craft glue or paste?

2. What is the effectivity of white pomelo peel as a craft glue or paste in terms

of paper?

3. What is the effectivity of green pomelo peel as a craft glue or paste in terms

of paper?

4. What is more effective the white peel or the green peel of pomelo in terms of
paper?

Scope and Delimitation

This study focuses on determining the difference of the white pomelo peel and

green pomelo peel. An experimental research design will be used in this study to

be able to identify which are more effective in making a craft glue or paste by

using pomelo peel.
