“5 Famous Gymnast from the Philippines”

1. Carlos Edriel Poquiz Yulo

Carlos Edriel Poquiz Yulo (born February 16, 2000) is a Filipino artistic
gymnast who has won multiple World Artistic Gymnastics Championships
medals. With his bronze medal finish on the floor exercise in 2018, he
became the first Filipino and the first male Southeast Asian gymnast to
medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, followed by the
Philippines' first gold medal on the same apparatus in 2019. This
performance also earned him a spot in the Summer Olympics in Tokyo in
2020.

2. Ernesto Beren

Ernesto Beren is a Filipino gymnast who was born on February 28, 1950.
At the 1968 Summer Olympics, he competed in four events. He was one
of the Philippines' youngest athletes to compete in the Summer
Olympics. He was 18 when he donned the Philippine colors to compete in
the Olympics in Mexico City. He took part in the individual all-around
event, as well as the floor exercise, rings, and parallel bars.

3. Reyland Capellan

Reyland Capellan (born on September 7, 1993) is a Filipino male artistic


gymnast who competes for his country in international competitions. He
took part in world championships, including the World Artistic
Gymnastics Championships in Glasgow in 2015. At the 2015 Southeast
Asian Games, he also competed in gymnastics. He won gold on the Floor
and bronze on the Vault. Capellan broke the Philippines' 10-year gold
medal drought, which began with Roel Ramirez's victory in the Men's
Vault at the 2005 Games.
4. Norman Henson

Norman Henson was a Filipino gymnast who competed from March 3,


1950 to April 14, 2014. At the 1968 Summer Olympics, he took part in five
events. Norman's excellent gymnastic skills could have easily qualified him,
but at 14, he was too young to compete in the Olympics.

5. Kaitlin De Guzman

Kaitlin De Guzman (born July 28, 2000) is a female Filipino-American artistic


gymnast. She represented the Philippines in international competitions,
including the 2017 Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, where she won
gold in uneven bars. She has also competed in gymnastics competitions in
the United States, including the 2016 P&G Championships in St. Louis, Mo.,
the 2016 and 2015 Secret U.S. Classic, and the 2015 and 2014 editions of
the Nastia Liukin Cup in Greensboro, N.C. She is the daughter of Cintamoni
De Guzman, the country's gold medalist in the uneven bars event at the
1995 Southeast Asian Games in Chiang Mai.
