A Secret to Master Visualization

“As the sailor has the port toward which he is sailing in his mind, you must have a clear
mental picture continually in your mind. You must keep your face toward it all the time.”
~ Wallace Wattles

Your mental image will manifest when impressed continuously on the formless
substance. There is no doubt in my mind that this is true. It’s Law. The difficulty is in
keeping that impression consistent and continuously on your mind.

The Problem with Visualization

Now let me be very clear on this. I don’t think visualization is the problem. Visualization
is in fact perfect in every way. It’s perfect because the Universe is perfect. The Universe
is in direct alignment with your hearts desires. It’s completely aligned for you in every
aspect. In this current moment your life is in complete alignment with what you want.

The problem isn’t visualization. The problem is focus.

Tell me, What do you really want?

Really give that question some thought. I don’t think many people do. When I ask others
this question, there are usually two answers,

1) They don’t know

or

2) They tell me what they think they can get

The first group don’t know what they want. When asked this question they provide
elaborate detail on what they don’t want. Their focus is in the wrong place. When they
focus on what they don’t want, they get more of that.

You see, there are a lot of people who already know what you know. They know what
they don’t want. They know that when they focus on what they don’t want, they get more
of it. They know this and they still do it!

The second group is slightly different. When asked the same question, What do you really
want? they provide a different answer. They answer based on what they think they can
get. They would rather settle than have what they really want.

“There is a massive difference between what you think you can get AND what you really
want.” ~ SM
That’s the problem. In my experience that’s why most people have a problem with
visualization. The majority of people don’t consciously direct their focus on what they
really want. Instead they focus on what they don’t want or what they think they can get.

Why? Because they haven’t decided to go and figure out what they really want.

How to Visualize with Lightning Speed

Visualization is the most natural and beautiful gift we’re given. It doesn’t matter how old
you are, you can do it.

Recently, I was listening to an audio from Bob Proctor. He mentioned that there are
schools in the U.S. and other parts of the world that teach visualization to young children.
Some of these kids are ages 6-8. They are so young and they still do it! If they can do it,
then so can you.

Visualization is easy, especially if you use this tip.

Begin to think of the first time you fell in love. Think of the first time you met that person
and how you felt. Do you remember them? Do you remember that moment?

You see, when you fell in love for the first time you thought about that person all the
time. You thought about them in the shower, brushing your teeth, on the bus, in your car
and at work. You thought about them every moment of every day. You couldn’t get them
off your mind even if you tried. You were making pictures of that person continuously.

If you want to master visualization then fall in love. Fall in love with an idea that will
ignite your future.

You want to fall in love with your vision. You want to bring it everywhere you go and
just be with it; be totally in love with it.

It sounds so simple and it really is. When you fall in love with your vision you will never
have to force it upon your mind again.

Visualization & Gratitude

You see you can’t give what you don’t have. If you don’t love yourself then how could
you ever love another?

In order to love your vision, you’ve got to love yourself. You really want to be grateful
for who you are and what you have. Gratitude connects you to source. When you’re
grateful for everything you have, you can’t help but love your life.
You want to focus on the good in your life. You’ve got this genius within you that is just
waiting to pour out. You want to be in love with yourself and kiss yourself everyday.
You’re a beautiful human being.

Fall in love with yourself and you’ll fall in love with your vision. When you fall in love
with your vision you will never have to force it upon your mind again.

Should You Visualize in the 1st or 3rd

person?
What do you think?  Should you Visualize in the 1st or 3rd person?  Both methods are
valuable and helpful for different reasons – but if you use the wrong method at the wrong
time, you’ll be well into your next lifetime before you manifest what you want.

Before I go there, let me explain what I mean by the 1st and 3rd person.

1st person would be through your own eyes, or in an associated state.  In this case you
are in fact the dreamer doing the visualization.

3rd person would be from outside your body, or in a disassociated state. In this case
you’re the observer – or ghost – watching the dreamer.

Visualizing as the dreamer triggers the emotional or subconscious mind to develop

feelings for the things you want. This feeling triggers a change in vibration. Attraction is
preceded by vibration.  Get into the right vibration and you will attract the things you
want.

How do you change your vibration?

By changing your feelings.  Here is a quick test to do exactly that.

Just be the observer at this point.  Imagine that you’re on the beach somewhere hot,
maybe the Caribbean.  Now picture yourself sitting on the beach, lying in the sand staring
up into the sky. Notice how you feel.

This time become the dreamer.  Actually step inside your body and look through your
own eyes.  Feel the heat radiating from the sunshine and the sand beneath your feet.  Hear
the waves crashing upon the shore line and the breeze whispering in your ear.  See the
beautiful colors in the sky and the brightness of the sun. How did you feel this time?
Remember that being in the dreamer state is the way to develop powerful feelings.  Being
the observer helps you distant yourself – or move away from experiencing your feelings.

If you don’t trigger feelings during your visualization, you won’t attract the things you
want.  You see, your subconscious mind “speaks” in emotions.  It doesn’t understand
much of anything else.  The more often you create powerful feelings, the more frequent
you are speaking to your subconscious mind.  That’s how you change your vibration.

Be mindful that your feelings are representative of your vibration.  A stronger feelings
indicates a higher vibration.  And when you vibrate at a higher frequency you become a
magnet for things to come to you.//

3rd Person Visualization

Visualizing as the observer has it’s benefits too.  Here are a few to consider:

 As the observer you can see yourself in a new light when dealt with challenges; a
new perspective is sometimes all you need to tackle tough obstacles.
 Being the observer allows you to distance yourself from negative feelings.  In
some situations this can provide more clarity and calmness of mind.  And with
calmness of mind comes better thinking power.

Remember, as emotions fall, intelligence rises;

 You can uncover blind spots by being the observer.  Think of it this way.  When
you see the faults in others it’s very obvious to you.  You can’t understand why
others don’t see this in themselves.  Being the observer allows you to see how
others see you.  It might be all you need to uncover those areas that are unknown.
 When you’re the observer you can add more clarity to your clear mental image.
Maybe there are details you hadn’t considered when looking through the eyes of
the dreamer.  Be the observer to notice the things you haven’t yet noticed.

Regardless of which method you use, both are important.  Learn how to use them both.
Become masterful at visualizing as the observer and the dreamer and dream big dreams.

5 Essentials Tools to Tap Into the Power

of Your Subconscious Mind
September 27, 2010 by Steve

Tap into the power of your subconscious mind with these 5 tools. It’s no secret – if
you’ve been following my Newsletter for the past 6 months you know that at least 96%
of your perceptions, thoughts and behaviors come from your subconscious mind.

No wonder most of us act so goofy (me included). We’ve been programmed what to
think, do and believe. Part of these thoughts are from you conscious mind, but the bulk of
them are rooted in your subconscious. It’s time to change this. It’s time for you to take
control. Here are the 5 essential tools to tap into the Power of Your Subconscious Mind:

1. Visualization

Visualization is picturing in your minds-eye what you would like to have. It’s creating a
detailed vision of how you would like your life to unfold. It’s not just where you work.
It’s a detailed image of where you live and what your home looks like – it’s who your
neighbors and friends are. It encompasses everything in all aspects of your life.

Some of my clients will say, “I don’t see pictures very well or even at all… is there
something wrong with me?”

No, of course not. It just means you haven’t developed that part of your brain. Just
because you don’t play hockey or sing very well doesn’t mean you can’t do those things
– it just means you’ve got to practice those skills in order to develop and get good at
them. Learning visualization works the same way.

Maybe you’re more in tune with the voices and the feelings in your body. Which makes it
easier for you to get in touch with how you feel so you can start…

2. Feeling Good

Besides making visualization a part of your routine, you also want to focus on feeling
good. You want to make every day a game of “how awesome can I feel today?”

Have you ever noticed that life seems to go south when you feel like crap? And when you
feel great, great things happen. It’s no coincidence. Your life is a reflection of how you
feel. Your finances are a reflection of how you feel about money. Your relationships are a
reflection of how you feel about being connected to the people in your life. Your business
is a reflection of how you feel about your business and how you serve your clients.

Start shifting the way you feel. Starting lifting your vibration one step at a time… If you
feel like a 3 out of 10, move to a 4 out of 10.  Keep inching your way up each and every
day.

For a practical guide on how to do this see:  Stay Focused on What Makes You Feel
Good

3. Written Intentions

I’ve been writing out my goals and intentions since 2006.  Here are a list of empowering
beliefs I wrote down on June 8, 2006:

 Everything happens for a reason and a purpose, and it serves us.

 There is no such thing as failure, there are only results.
 Whatever happens, take responsibility.
 It’s not necessary to understand everything to be able to use everything.
 People are your greatest resource.
 Work is play.
 There’s no abiding success without commitment.
 I trust myself to be rich and successful.

I wouldn’t say all of these are true for me… but they have definitely shaped my
perspective and how I respond to the circumstances in my life. If you want to make
deeper changes than impact you at a cellular level then write out your own list of
intentions.  Put some thought into them and place them where you’ll see them on a daily
basis.
4. Repetition

Professional athletes use repetition obsessively. Back a few months the Montreal
Canadiens were pursing the Stanley Cup in the National Hockey League. The Canadiens
top scorer during the playoffs was Michael Camilleri. What was really interesting is how
he would start each game.

Before anyone got on the ice he would walk out to the bench and stare at a spot on the
ice.  Then he would spend time visualizing himself shooting and scoring from that spot
on the ice.  He did that every game – and what’s even crazier is that he scored from the
exact spot he was visualizing on the ice.

You see, most people talk themselves out of their goals because their subconscious hasn’t
accepted it as an undeniable fact. They don’t see it for themselves.  If you want to see it
for yourself then start impressing your mind with visualization. Start impressing your
mind with good-feeling-thoughts and over time you won’t have to convince your friends
that you’re going to be super-successful.  The only person you need to convince is
yourself.  Use repetition to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary.

5. Change Your Story

You know that little voice in your head that talks you out of your dreams?  The one that
just said, “What voice?”  That voice has a story about how you.  It also has a story
about your finances, a story about your relationships, a story about your work and a story
about what is possible in your life… and in many cases you don’t even know it.

I have a story too – some of these stories work for me and others don’t.  These stories
filter through our subconscious as memories from the past.  These memories are rooted in
our subconscious mind.  Change these stories and your behaviors change.  Change your
behaviors and your results change.  Change your results and your life changes.  I’m
committed to changing my stories so that I can change my life – are you?

Stay Focused on What Makes You Feel

Good
September 14, 2010 by Steve

Easy to say, hard to do. Like most things, getting yourself to stay focused on feeling good
takes practice. In this article I’ll share what I feel is one of the most important things you
can do to help you attract more happiness, abundance, money, business opportunities,
love, sex and even ecstasy into your life.

It comes down to one idea: stay focused on what makes you feel good.   This is one of
the primary themes in the Ester-Hicks philosophy on the Law of Attraction.

The basic premise of the Ester-Hicks philosophy is that the better you feel, the faster you
attract the people, situations and circumstances you want into your life.  The faster you
attract the people, situations and circumstances you want into your life, the faster you
shift your energy into a higher vibration.  The faster you shift your energy into a higher
vibration, the better you feel.  The better you feel, the more opportunities show up. The
more opportunities show up, the faster you are moving with the current in your life.  The
faster you are moving with the current in your life, the faster and more rapidly you begin
to attract what you want and the further away you move from what you don’t want.

Get what I’m saying?

But there is one caveat.  You are the source of it all.  It ALL begins with you – ALL OF
IT.  You are 100% responsible for your vibration, the way you feel and what you attract
into your life.

Nobody else is responsible for the way you feel.  For some that’s a dagger to the heart.  I
know it’s a hard pill to swallow (at first) but you – my friend – are at the source of it
ALL… 100%.

Should I Ditch My Obligations?

So are you saying I should ditch my obligations and just focus on feeling good?

That’s not what I’m saying.  What I’m saying is that you need to realize that the better
you feel, the more aligned you become. The more aligned you become, the faster people
and circumstances show up.  The faster people and circumstances show up, the more
congruent you are.  The more congruent you are, the better you feel and the better you
feel the more harmony you experience; the more harmony you experience, the faster
things show up in your bubble of reality.

Make sense?

You want to focus on what makes you feel better on a moment to moment basis.  I like
the way Joe Vitale put it in the movie the Secret when he said (paraphrased),

“If you feel like eating a salami sandwich, then have one.  You always want to be
thinking and doing things that make you feel good.”
In the beginning, this is one of the hardest things to do.  We’re not wired to run ourselves
this way. It takes a leap of faith at first… to know and trust your feelings – one of the
most advanced guidance systems we have.

Release Old Programming

We’ve been programmed to do what our church says, what our government says, what
the TV commercials say, what the wrapper on your bubble gum says, what your parents
and friends have told you.  We’ve been conditioned to ignore our feelings and to follow
our conditioning.  To listen to the messages that have been repeated to us over and over
again through media and other channels that don’t necessarily have our best interests at
heart.

We’ve been told that success is an upward battle; that you need to work hard to get
ahead.   That you need to struggle and that having a better life means sacrifice.

There is some truth in that statement.  You might feel that way when you start focusing
on what makes you feel good.  It really takes something to “try-on” a new way of doing
things – and by doing things differently you will have to sacrifice and let go of your old
ways of being and doing.

What I’m saying is give yourself a break.  Give yourself a frick’n break!

Stop being so hard on yourself.  Stop working so hard and start thinking and acting on the
things that make you feel good.

What Makes You Feel Good?

A good example of this is someone who watches TV.  They work hard all week and come
home in the evening, drop dead in front of the TV and veg-out on the couch.  If their
normal waking feeling is a 3 out of 10 (10 being completely awesome and 1 being
depressed) then moving to the couch and watching TV might be a 5 out of 10.

Watching TV actually makes them feel better.  That’s better than where they were and
it’s getting them to shift to an even better feeling.

The next question you want to ask yourself is, what would make you feel even better?
Maybe it’s calling your best friend and listening to them on the phone.  Maybe it’s going
to the refrigerator and grabbing a tub of ice cream.  It doesn’t matter what it is.  If it
makes you feel better, then you’re moving in the right direction!

It’s all about thinking and doing things that make you feel better.

The best teachers practice what they preach.  Just before I started writing this article I
was eating a piece of cake in the kitchen.  At that point I was feeling about a 7 out of
10.  (It was good cake!)
Then I got inspired.  I got an idea to write this article and I acted on it.  Thirty minutes
later I was warmed up.  I was a 9 out of 10 and about half way through the article I was in
a state of “flow” and felt a perfect 10.

Shortly after this Trisha came down into the kitchen.  This broke my flow state and I got
annoyed with her, which brought me back down to a 7 out of 10.  Instead of sitting there
and feeling annoyed I decided to join her for dinner; we laughed and had a good
conversation which brought me back up to a 9 out of 10.

Over and over, moment by moment it’s our job to find the things to think and do that
make us feel good.

When I first started this practice I found myself focusing only on thoughts.  That worked
ok, but what I found even more helpful was to focus on doing things that changed the
way I felt. Writing made me feel good; masterminding made me feel good; being social
with friends made me feel good; coaching and servicing others made me feel good.

What makes you feel good and how do you know if you’re a 3, 5 or 9 out of 10?

This is where real mastery comes in.  Again, it takes practice. You want to calibrate
where you are as much as possible so that you know how you are feeling.  Even right
now in this moment, you want to know how you feel.  Did reading this article make you
feel better?  If so, then by how much?

If it did help then maybe you should read some more ;-)

How to Master Your Attention

May 8, 2009 by Steve

The simple act of completing everything you start will help you strengthen your
concentration muscles and master your attention.  This seems like a simple idea and it is.
You master your attention by mastering your completions.

I spoke to a woman earlier this week that is a friend of mine.  I sensed that she seemed a
little confused and frustrated.  As we got talking she told me about the different
businesses she works in.  I asked her, “how many business do you have?” and she
replied, “I have three.”
If you ask me, that’s two, too many and here’s why.  Having too many businesses scatters
your focus.

Let me explain.

Let’s think of those businesses, sort of like driving a car, but not just one car – many
cars.  Let’s also say you have five different cars and you want to drive all of them at the
same time.

You get into the first car and you drive it 300 feet.  Since you can only drive one car at a
time you stop that car and walk all the way back to the second car.

Now you take the second car and drive it 400 feet.  Again, you stop that car and walk
back to drive the third car.

You drive the third car 700 feet.  You’re really satisfied with yourself, but you have to
get out of that car and drive the fourth car.

You take the fourth car 150 feet.  You had a terrible day.  You hum and haw over your
losses and walk all the way back to the stop light and get into your fifth car.

You drive the fifth car about 600 feet.  You’re really cruising but you have to stop again
and go all the way back to the first car again.

Can you see the problem here?

Since you can only drive one car at one time you scatter your focus.  Your energy and
actions become dispersed making it almost impossible to progress and move forward.
Why?

You’re driving too many cars!

What’s the alternative?

Master your attention.  Become absolutely focused.  Choose one business to focus on at
one time.  Don’t shift your attention to other businesses.  Stay focused on only one
business until you’ve got it running on autopilot or at least until you have someone else
running it.  Get it to completion.

But it doesn’t stop there.

This applies to other areas of your life as well.  Maybe you have a list of projects that are
important to you; it could be anything from home improvements to personal health.  You
find it difficult to get things done and you can’t seem to figure out why.

Where’s the first place to look?

See how many cars you’re driving.

You might have five different cars and you want to drive all of them at the same time.
What should you do?

Choose one car.  Drive that one car until you’re done with it or at least happy with your
results.  Wash and repeat.

Do this over and over again, driving one car at a time.  It’s simple isn’t it?  Then go ahead
and get started.  Choose one task to complete today and then go out and do it using
effective action and the 80/20 rule.

The more you do this, the more effective you become – you become a master of your
attention.  Not only that, but some other side effects may include:

 joy, bliss and happiness more of the time

 a sense of pride in your work
 feeling satisfied and accomplished
 feeling more connected and energetic

…what are you putting off that you could complete right now?

Effective Action and The 80/20 Rule

March 30, 2009 by Steve

This article is the fourth in a series of articles on How to Triple Your Income as a
Consultant.

Taking effective action means taking the actions that produce the greatest results.  You
won’t get paid a premium dollar unless you provide premium quality.  That means
trimming the fat and doing the things that count the most.  Using the 80/20 rule is a big
proponent to take effective action.

The 80/20 Rule for Effective Action

20% of your actions create 80% of your results.  When you take effective action, you’re
acting in the 20% that produce 80% of your results. Acting ineffectively gets you 20% of
your results with 80% of your actions.

When I worked as a Consultant I started putting in 20 hour work weeks.  This was more
than enough time for me to produce the same results I created previously in a 40 hour
work week.  The way I did this is by effectively using the 80/20 Rule.  I was acting in the
20% that was producing 80% of my results.

I started acting effectively out of necessity.  I had put myself on the line and made an
agreement with the company as their consultant.  I agreed to bring all their projects in on
time and under budget, therefore meeting their needs: to save time and money.

I also new that these were mere symptoms to the bigger problems.  Wasting time and
money was the effect and not the cause.  The root cause of their problem came from
mismanaged activities and unclear project objectives.

Because of my previous experience in project engineering, I knew what actions I needed

to take in order to get the job done – to save time and money.  But there was one
problem.  I only had half the time to do it.

Doing What Matters Most

Since I was getting paid to produce results I only focused on effective actions.  I didn’t
spend much time writing emails or answering phone calls – because these actions
wouldn’t create the results I was being paid to produce.

I started by identifying actions I could take to meet the company objectives, which was to
save time and money.  Seeing that these were merely symptoms, I focused on solving the
real problems: mismanaged activities and unclear objectives.

Again I took these two areas and focused on the one that would give me the biggest bang
for my buck.  Remember the whole point here is to trim the fat and do what matters most.
Because of my experience as a project engineer it was clear to me that 80% of the time
projects would get delayed and cost the company money because the project objectives
were unclear.

Knowing this made it very easy for me to direct my focus.  I put all my attention on
setting a clear objective for each project.
Then I took it a step further.  I realized that there were several ways to set clear project
objectives.  I then refined this list until I was left with only two very specific and
measurable actions.  Actions I could take to move the project forward with the least
amount of time and effort.

Here’s a birds-eye view of how I used the 80/20 Rule for my projects:

The 80/20 Rule for Project Management

Once I identified these actions, I got to work. I took effective action by focusing on what
mattered most and doing it.  Consulting is about trimming the fat.  Doing the actions that
matter most.  It’s working smarter, not harder.

If you want to get paid a premium dollar in any business, as a consultant or otherwise you
have to offer great value for your time.  One of the fastest ways to do this is by taking
effective action: Put energy and focus into the 20% of actions that will get you 80% of
your results.

Once you’ve done that, it’s important to make these actions a habit.  The 80/20 rule is
about saving your time so you can get more done with less.  I used this process to reduce
my 40 hour work week to a 20 hour work week.  It could work just as easily in other
areas of your life as well.

Become An Expert With The 80/20 Rule

If you follow the logic that 20% of your actions will produce 80% of your results, then
consider this formula to build your credibility as an expert.  It could take you 1/4 the time
to become an expert in your field if you focus on effective actions.

The better you are at what you do, the more you will get paid.  This depends entirely on
your industry and the position you hold, but as a general rule of thumb companies will
pay you more for your expertise; as long as that expertise helps them produce results.
And the better you get at producing results, the more you will be compensated.

It’s no different in project engineering.  I became really good at getting projects done on
time and under budget.  In one situation I saved the company I was working for $500,000
on a $5,000,000 project.

That raised some eyebrows.  People started to talk.  It got executive attention and built
my reputation as a project engineer that got results.  In a relatively short period of time I
started getting all the project work that was “mission- critical,” because I was know to
produce results in that area.

Do You Avoid Effective Action?

Most people will avoid taking effective action like the plague.  The reason:  most of these
actions have some element of rejection built into them.

For example an effective action may require that you make a request of someone.  You
might need help with a project and have to ask another person for their assistance.  And
since your request making muscles are weak, you fear the rejection that will follow from
this request – and therefore avoid the whole thing.

The bottom line.  People who take effective action don’t let rejection stop them.  They
take action and get paid very well as a result.

You can demonstrate results all day long, but if you don’t have a certain element of
likability nobody will hire you. People are attracted to those people who are attractive;
not just in a physical sense, but those people who they enjoy being around – the people
that make them feel good.  It’s natural to want to work with people that make you feel
good.
