Mary is depicted in the picture holding the infant Jesus, dressed in spotless white and royal blue. She had a heavenly face and was absolutely devoted to God. The Catholic Church considers Mary the "Mother of God" because she conceived Jesus, the second person of the Holy Trinity, through the Holy Spirit. As his mother, she gave birth to both his human and divine natures. Mary is seen as the "Model of Christian Faith" because she exemplified complete faith and obedience to God's will, despite facing difficulties, and remains devoted to her role in bringing Jesus to the world.

Picture Analysis:

Mary’s picture below is the Marists Brothers’ image of Mary. Answer the
questions that follow:
QUESTIONS:
1. Describe Mary in the picture.

The Holy Virgin appears fully clothed in glowing clothes, a spotless

white gown, and a royal blue belt. He is holding Jesus Christ and she has
a heavenly face. If she was as described in the Bible, she was a woman
absolutely in love with God, overflowing with faith who trusted God's
promise and gazed on the face of God in her son. Given that every human
person who is in love or is kind or joyous appears lovely, she must have
been the most beautiful of all women, regardless of how her features were
structured, how clean her complexion was, or how lustrous her hair was.

2. Based on the picture, why do you think Mary is considered by the

Catholic Church as “Mother of God?”

To comprehend the term "Mother of God," we must first comprehend

Mary's position as the mother of our Savior, Jesus Christ. As Catholics, we
strongly believe in the incarnation of our Lord: Mary, conceived by the
power of the Holy Spirit. Through Mary, Jesus Chris the second member
of the Holy Trinity, one-in-being consubstantial with the Father, and real
God from true God entered our world, taking on human body and a human
soul. Jesus is both genuine God and true man, embodying both a divine
and a human character. Mary did not create the divine person of Jesus,
who has existed with the Father since the beginning of time. In truth, the
One whom she conceived as a man via the Holy Spirit and who actually
became her Son in the flesh was none other than the Father's eternal Son,
the second member of the Holy Trinity.

Mary is a prominent figure in Catholicism, and her story exemplifies how

our omnipotent Father works in our lives. Mary came from humble
beginnings, yet God called her to a very unusual role: becoming the mother
of Jesus Christ. This was no simple task. Women did not have the same
social standing as males during Mary's day. Second, after Jesus was born,
King Herod ordered that all newborns be slain, forcing Mary to flee to Egypt
to avoid the slaughter and spare her child.

Despite the difficulties she faced, Mary became an instrument of faith

and remained devoted to her duty of bringing God's promised son to life.
Our Catholic faith teaches us the three essential virtues of Mary. The Holy
Mother exemplified these in the manner she spent her life. As her offspring,
we should strive to embody these ideals in our daily lives and how we treat
others.
3. Based on this image, why do we consider Mary as the “Model of
Christian Faith?”
Our Lady is the Faith Teacher. Every facet of Christian religion has its
prototype in Mary: being faithful to God and observing daily life through the
lens of faith, even in the midst of obscurity. Our Mother teaches us to be
completely open to the divine will "even if it is mysterious, and often does
not correspond with their own wishes, and is a sword that pierces their soul,
as the elderly Simeon would say prophetically to Mary when Jesus was
presented in the Temple (cf. Lk 2:35).
If our faith is lacking, we should turn to Mary. Our Lady's faith and
docility bear an unexpected fruit in the midst of the gloom of the Cross.
Christ, in the guise of John, entrusts all mankind to his mother, particularly
his disciples: those who will believe in him. Mary's motherhood
encompasses the entire Mystical Body of Christ. Jesus adopts his mother
as our mother, entrusting us to her care and requesting her intervention.
As a result, the Church regularly asks the faithful to turn to Mary with special
devotion.
By reflecting on Mary's life and imitating her, allowing her lead us by the
hand, we will be able to encourage greater openness to the light of faith in
people around us, in our family and friends. We shall do so by
demonstrating a consistent way of life, via personal discussions of
friendship and trust that contain the required teaching, to promote a
personal experience with Christ through the sacraments and acts of piety,
both when working and when relaxing. If we identify with Mary and emulate
her virtues, we will be able to bring Christ to life, via grace, in the hearts of
countless others, who will then identify with him through the operation of
the Holy Spirit.
We shall partake in Mary's spiritual motherhood if we mimic her. And all
of this, like our Lady, quietly; without being recognized, practically without
words, via the honest and genuine witness of our lives as Christians, and
the generosity of endlessly repeating her fiat, which we renew as an
intimate relationship between ourselves and God.
