Studies About Faculty Development

Studies have found that faculty development programs can significantly impact instructional performance of teachers and produce promising outcomes in teaching and learning. However, participation from faculty in long-term development opportunities is still low, with only around 24% participating in master's or doctoral programs. Recent research shows faculty development focuses on institutional excellence, leadership, community engagement, and individual teacher responsibility, with an emphasis on institutional support for programs and the impact of online teaching.

Studies about Faculty Development

According to Alilo (2020) focused on assessing the effectiveness of faculty development

programs on the instructional performance of teachers in a high school in the Philippines. The
researcher used a questionnaire to gather data on the instructional performance of teachers and
their assessment of the faculty development programs. The study found that these programs had
a significant impact on the instructional performance of teachers.
Moreover, In a study of Kamel (2016) the study concludes that professional Faculty
Development Programs can produce promising outcomes in learning and teaching practices, and
it advocates for the continued implementation of FDPs as a means of improving the quality of
education in higher institutions.Furthermore it highlights the positive effects of FDPs on student
academic achievement, and presents the ideal structure and features of effective FDPs. It
recommends that teachers in higher education should attend FDP training activities on a regular
basis, and that the scope of planned FDPs should extend beyond the health professions discipline
to include social skills necessary for collaboration, professional growth, as well as management
and leadership abilities.
Cauilan (2020) found that most of the faculty development programs offered were short-term seminars
and training workshops, with only 31% of faculty members having participated in such programs over the
past five years. Long-term faculty development opportunities, such as master's and doctoral degree
programs, were only available to 24.3% of faculty members through the university's development
program.

Fonte et.al.(2020) shows that the faculty development practices in the schools focused on
institutional excellence, leadership development, community engagement, and individual teacher
and school responsibility. The study emphasized the importance of institutional support for
faculty development, the role of school culture in designing faculty development programs, and
the impact of online teaching on the future direction of faculty development programs
