Hi! My name is Mark and I want to tell you about a book I read last week. It is a great book written
by the famous (0) author Barbara Andrews.
The book is an exciting story about a young a boy, called Harry, who wants to be a detective and
solve mysteries. Harry can speak three (1) __________________and he is really clever. But Harry

Hippos
This kind of animal has an interesting name. We call it a hippo, but its long name is ‘hippopotamus’.

KING MIDAS
King Midas lived in a big palace near a river. He was very rich but he wanted more – “I want to be
richer!”- he said.
One day he found a magic lamp and a magician appeared. – “I want to have more money.”- Said
King Midas. The magician wanted to teach him a lesson and said, – “Your majesty, I can give you
a special power that will make you the richest man in the world, anything that you touch will turn into
gold”.
The king was happy that everything he touched turned into gold. First, he turned tables into gold,
then chairs and flowers. But when he sat down for dinner, he also turned his food into gold.
Then King Midas went to visit his daughter and when he kissed her, she turned into gold. He went
to ask the magician what was going on. – “I wanted you to understand that the most important thing
is your family”, said the magician.

King Midas learned his lesson, and the magician changed everything. King Midas was never sad
again and lived happily with his family.

Hachi
Based on a true story
This is the story of a brilliant dog called Hachi. Hachi was from Japan.
He is traveling to the United States when his cage falls at the wrong
train station. Parker Wilson, a college professor finds him and takes
him to his house. Hachi and Parker develop a close relationship.
Hachi goes to the train station with Parker every morning and meets
him there again every evening. One morning, Hachi has a bad feeling
about Parker going to work and tries to stop him, but Parker fails to
read the signs. Unfortunately, he dies while teaching. Hachi waits for
his master to return in the evening, but realizes he is not coming.
Family members try to make him understand but somehow, he is still
hopeful that Parker might come home one day. Every evening Hachi
goes to the same place to wait for Parker and this goes on for many
years.
‘Hachi is a simple, heart-warming story of a loyal dog that waits for his master, even after his master’s
death. The story is real and takes place in Japan in the early 20th Century.
‘Don’t watch this if you are not prepared to cry!
